So I'm looking to buy a head unit for my Miata. It's gay to have the wrong frequencies. So anyways. I couldn't find the DEH-P690UB on the Best Buy site or Future Shop, or Wal-mart, or Canadian Tire... and local shops charge WAYYY to much. So I'm thinking about opting to buy it online.
I searched it on Froogle and the best price I found was from this place called
Bargains Unlimited.
Does this place mare your sketchy radars go off? They ship to Canada with USPS Priority or USPS Express. So that's cool. I don't have to bend over for UPS or FedEx. They also accept PayPal for international, so long as it is a confirmed address.
What do you guys think? Am I going to regret this? :dunno:
Any of you guys have a hook up. Even if it's a little bit more expensive. I just hate buying from those places with gigantic mark-up. |

I would just buy local from Visions... They sell that deck for $300. I looked at the website you posted, and they wanted $225 with shipping within the USA... I garauntee you'll pay at least $300 with shipping to Canada + Duty + Taxes etc...
Just buy local. Save the hassle of online shopping, shipping, and the possibility of the item arriving DOA. |

| Woah. Good Cal AIP. I assumed Visions was one of the higher priced places around. Their site say 308. Until Dec 24, 07. Hmmm, I wonder if I'll get burned on boxing day? Their reg price is 370. So if I am already 'saving' 62 bucks, then it's doubtful that they would go even lower on boxing day right? |

| Hard to say, their prices are usually quite inflated, so you may be able to haggle with them quite a bit, my brother just bought "$5000 worth" of stereo equipment from them for $1500.00 so... Just go in, know what you want, and tell them you're not willing to pay their inflated prices. Tell them you know they're in business to make money, and you want them to make money, but you don't want to be gouged... |

| I just bought a alarm/starter from the Visions on 137th and St Albert trail, and they have a 5 month (I think thats the length) price match guarantee. If in the next 5 months, the price goes lower at any of their edmonton stores, they will reimburse me the difference. I can't speak for if they do that with head units, but its worth a thought. :) |

Cool. Went to Visions on 170st. It was nice to not have someone jump on me when I walked it. I checked out the player, it was marked as it was on the site. Double checked to make sure that it came with the iPod cable, etc. Asked to buy it.
He went and got it no problems. Didn't try to get me to buy the more expensive models. Didn't try to persuade me to buy other things like speakers or subs. Didn't try to sell me the biggest set of wires they offer. So that made me happy.
It has a 60 day price protection thing.
It was an easy purchase. Now I just need to find a good deal on some 6.5's for the doors. |

| Congratulations on your new purchase! I just installed one of those in my brothers car, nice deck for sure, a little bit of a pain to setup... But the install was a breeze! |

| Note: When I said pain to setup, I was refering to the use of the knob as a joystick, haha! |

| Yeah. Modified Mag did a review and said the same thing. The only bothersome thing they said was getting used to the command knob. I'll most likely just keep my iPod hooked up and stashed away and just use the remote when I need to. |

| I bought this deck when I was in cali in the early fall, and have had no problems. I ablsoluty love the ipod cable, have it tucked away ina secret place, and being able to navigate it from the deck is a big plus |

I ran my brothers ipod cable into his glove box, seemed like the most logical place to me, just open-clip-close... |

Another question. What's the name of the wires that are supposed to change the OE plug in the car to fit the plug in in the back of the new HU? Is that just a wiring kit? Harness?
And where can i get that 'ish in Edmonton? |

Yeah, it's a wiring harness, it plugs into your factory wiring so you don't have to hack-job anything incase you feel like selling the car and want to put the old stereo back in...
Then you just crimp the wires from the new harness onto the wiring for the deck, it's awesome, and a huge time-saver.... |
