Parking Cars over winter - Click HERE for Original Thread

ALIAS81
What kind of routine goes into parking a car for the winter? Do you start her up at all or will she be fine not being started? Tire pressure due to the cold? Last thing i need is to get flat spots on the rubber come spring or my rim bent...

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated...

Cheers

LOL @ rims bent. Not gonna happen my friend.

Pump up your tires to 40psi or so. Put some fuel stabilizer in the tank. Unhook the negative cable on the battery. Don't start it up until you are ready to run it. When you are ready to take it out, unhook the ignition and crank it over for a bit to build oil pressure. Change the oil and filter soon after also. That's pretty much it.

If it's somewhere where there may be mice, there are other precautions you should take. Also consider investing in a good car cover if it's outdoors, or a cheap one for indoors.

Don't forget to wrap your car up with bungie cords, just to make sure the fenders don't sag.

i just put almost a full tank of gas in my tank with some stabilizer, removed the battery, put dryer sheets throughout the car because there is a ravine right behind my house and dont want any mice or other little animals going in there. then just threw the car cover on and away she went.

also i changed my oil and filter not long before i parked it.. not sure if i needed to but it was about time, and that way i can start it in spring with new clean oil.

There's as much reading as you'll need.

Park.

Wash.

Cover.

Start in spring.

It's as easy as that.

Thanks for all the posts... I parked the car on my only set of rubber and rims so I am worried about flat spots on the tires...
car has been parked since Oct 31 so I have nothing between the rubber and cold cement...

And the only reason why i said i worry about a bent rim is I have 30 profile rubber... I figured with enough loss in tire pressure I could be hooped..

Mine was parked from Thanksgiving to April 15th last year and I didn't even pump up the tires... they shouldn't flat spot.

I have 30 series rubber front and back and never had a problem. Don't worry about the rims, they'll be fine.

This happen to me last year when I store my car over winter & never check the tires. I knew I shouldn't of left them on the ground...

Improper car storages.
