LOL yeah it wasn't a finger in the barrel, it was some kind of contraption you place into the barrel that's meant for lining it up (or whatever)
Made out of aluminum it looked like, it was busted up pretty badly too but not as bad as the rifle |

I've seen a number of firearms shot that have been fired with something stuck in the barrel. None of them ever ended up like that. None of the barrels where usable afterward, but never looking like that. Personally I would call BS on that picture.
Whenever a gun is fired and something is obstructing the barrel, then barrel stretches as the pressure inside increases creating what's referred to as a barrel bulge. Eventually the pressure increases enough to push whatever is blocking the barrel out of the way. |

The item you are describing is called a bore sighter. It is used to roughly sight in the scope so you can do the fine tuning. There is no way it can cause that kind of damage. I still stand by my previous statement, the picture is faked. |

Well, the picture itself doesn't seem fake, if you look at the edges of the split barrel, they are very smooth. Like they were cut.
I would say the guy cut the barrel with a bandsaw, bent them with a bench vice, threw it on his gun and take it to the range to take a few pictures just for laughs. |
