i had the same problem with my 86 GXL. it sat for about 3 weeks and would just turn over and not start. I eventualy just got my old man to push the car with his van and we jump started it. now it starts like a charm every time with the key. hehe go figure

its most likely flouded, If your car doesnt have the fuel cut off switch go under the hood to the fuse box on the right hand side of the engine bay and pull the fuse that says EGI COMP, Go back into the car depress the gas peddle all the way and turn it over, hold it for about ten seconds or so. After this is done put your fuse back in and try turning it over without stepping on the gas, You may have to try this a few times for it to work if that is the problem? when ever my car gets flouded really bad thats what I do and it works every time, Its been really good lately though
Good Luck

starter could be fried???? sorry not much help here.... last time i knew a guys who's car did that and it was time to rebuild haha knock on wood

3 things needed for combustion:

1) spark
2) fuel
3) compression

it could be flooded or you have no compression (rebuild) or your spark is weak

Mine does this frequently if left unstarted for many days. If you have the fuel-pump cutoff switch turn it to the OFF position (otherwise pull the fuel-pump breaker from the panel in the engine compartment on the left shock tower), then push the gas pedal to the floor and keep it floored as you turn the engine with the starter. Let it spin for at least 30 seconds or until it starts to "pop and rumble" like it is trying to run. When this happens you need to keep it turning with the starter. One of two things will then happen. It will start and run for a few seconds...... if it does this, turn on the fuel pump and it should continue to run........ OR it will stop the "popping and rumbling" and just go back to spinning...... if it does this, stop the spinning and turn the fuel pump back on and then floor the gas pedal as you again try to start it.

If it doesn't actually light up and run, repeat the above. Sometimes it takes a few trys to get it humming, but once it does, you should be good until it sits too long again.

Hope this helps.

PS.... my engine is just rebuilt, and it still does this. It is thought to be due to injector leakage.

Dont even try that ^ if you dont have a stupidly strong battery. Easier to push/pull start, IMHO. :fingersx:
