Tint question (problems?) - Click HERE for Original Thread

So I pulled the trigger and had Malcolm's do a tint job on my car everything turned out great except the rear window. I normally don't get my cars tinted so I'm quite the newb at how it works. Not sure if I'm just being picky or what but the back window looks TERRIBLE, it looks like the tint didn't stick properly around the edges where the dots go around the whole perimeter of the window.. and some bubbling around the defrost lines as well.. I was told there would be some hazing and that's fine but I'm worried about the parts that aren't sticking to the window (mind you it's minimal but definitely noticeable). Should the tint adhere after a few days or should it already be adhered the moment it's applied? The most noticeable part is the dot matrix around the window, in some places it looks like it adhered to the majority of it but in other places it looks very ugly. Is this normal for the first few days of fresh tint?

If your unhappy with it go talk to Malcolm and voice your concerns. He backs up all his work and will take care of you if your not 100% satisfied. I have had a few vehicles tinted and 3m protection done by him. And never once have I had any issues with his after service. He has always corrected any issues I have had, and done it right away.

Yes it is normal for up to 2-4 days in sunny weather. After that fact if your still not satisfied... just tell him... he'll fix it. I can vouch for flex's post aswell.

they did my sunfire back in the day and it also has the dot matrix around the back window. I wasn't sticking after I picked it up, but I kept smoothing it out after and most of it stuck. It will never stick 100%, some guys run a strip of black vinyl to cover the dots. or you can spread glue to even out the dots, but this would have had to been done before it was tinted. Just keep smoothing it out and if it still looks like poo take it back to him.

um yes it should stick 100%. my rear window has tint and there are NO spots where it isn't sticking.

Ya I'm noticing it's getting worse, not sure if it's because of the weather or what, but there's bubbles appearing everywhere now. Will be going back hopefully they'll take care of it.

This is why I didn't get my sunfire tinted at malcolms... he said straight up that the results would not be good on the dot matrix part of the window.... what he recommended was to have him tint it then he could cut the tinted part and paint it solid.... I shopped around a bit and got it done at hi-tech tinting and the dot matrix adhered at least 95%... there is also a method using glue to adhere the dot matrix and a method that involves sanding the dot matrix flat... google them to find out...
