Yes, I know. It's another thread bitching about shitty, retarded drivers in Edmonton. Oh well, this event kinda takes the cake.
I don't know if you've driven on the Whitemud today, but it's icy. So icy that at 30km/hr the slightest touch of the throttle would send the rear end of my truck out to lunch.
Anyways, driving eastbound just past 149 st, I came across an oddity. Just was we (the other drivers and I) were coming around the corner and down the hill to the bridge, we meet some fucking douchebag who decided it was a good idea to reverse down the middle of the Whitemud, going against traffic. What he was doing? I could only guess, but he did eventually go into the far right lane and take the Fox Drive exit.
Anyways, just thought I would share this story and give props to the cab driver who happened to be in the same lane as this douche. He showed magnificent control of his car, and managed to avoid everything. |

Perhaps all forward gears in the vehicle became non-operational after some sort of mechanical malfunction, and rather than abandon the vehicle in the middle of the whitemud, the driver of said vehicle felt comfortable enough in his/her driving ability to navigate rear-wards and avoid causing traffic congestion... Just so that fucking faggot ass whiners like you wouldn't have to bitch about stalls on the whitemud?
Just a thought.

if you hit him from behind, your at fault. its hard to prove that he was in reverse as well, but it shouldnt be too hard to find a witness;) |

Reading comprehension there Rob. And I think reversing around a icy blind corner on a hill, causing a multi vehicle pile up would cause a little more traffic congestion. Don't you? And what's with all the hostility? Hormones in a twist? |

I read your whole post... You didn't say he changed direction and exited driving forwards? Why would it be any harder to see out of the rear window than the front? You already said most traffic was slowed to 30km/h...
Maybe it was me! |

You're right, I should have been more clear. He was driving in reverse, against traffic, around an icy blind corner, on a hill, with traffic on all three lanes approaching at the speed limit.
After the near miss by the cab driver, which resulted in everyone coming to a halt, he put it back in drive, changed lanes, and proceeded to take the exit.
My guess is that he panicked, and thought that he couldn't have changed lanes in time to make the exit (which he had a km of road to do so), so he stopped. Why he reversed is beyond me.
Oh, and it wasn't you because the guy didn't have his head out of the sun roof. |

It would be easy to prove it. Hit him hard enough, which freeway speeds allow, and the tranny will be lodged in reverse fucked to death. That should be proof enough. Plus there are countless witnesses lol. |

Im not in Edmonton now, Im on vacation but was it really icy? I know when I was broke and had bald tires, those hills were crazy nuts..

My aunty...I can't choose my relatives :dunno:
has had 3 such accidents because she was backing up...in the summer !!
She misses her turn or went the wrong way she just backs up...someone told her maybe the world revolves around her
She has never been charged and once she got a new car out of the accident
Explain me how you would ever not get charged if you were going against the flow of traffic
As for what this particular gentleman should do...if I have the area of the road correct...take the next exit and back track...slippery or not...I don't see how it is OK to back up...against oncoming traffic |

He was going down hill into the valley when he stopped and started backing up.
There was absolutely no reason why he would need to back up. There was nothing in front of him but empty road, and there was plenty of road left if he needed to merge to the right lane to take the exit. |

perhaps he was from another city?
ive noticed quite a few shitty drivers this year compared to a few years ago, im guessing alot of them are from out of town and dont know their way around the city. |

| Oh fucking snap... I guess I must have REALLY mis-read this thread... I thought the driver was driving backwards *WITH* the flow of traffic... |
|
|
| THUD |
There is a few hot spots on the mud for ppl who have no concept of danger.
Usually most ppl try to use the shoulder as there backup lane which is illegal but I've seen ppl turn around on the shoulder and try to drive forward against traffic.
Unless your trying to out run the cops or your 8 years old and don't know any better it's a quik and easy way to cause a massive mess. |

You wouldn't even have to go that far ... just to I believe 53rd ave and turn around .. which is about a kilometer after the fox drive exit. And you would end up coming off into the right hand lane for fox drive after turning around. :p |
