The batteries that Mazda retails now are not the original type of Absorbant Glass Mat that were used in the original cars. Many are not the right size either...but can fit.
Eunos Custom Automotive in North Vancouver (www.eunos.ca) has been known to carry the Westco battery, long known to be one of the best replacement (and a true AGM) battery. http://www.westcobattery.com/
Alternatively, are you sure that CT can't supply you with a AGM (their new Spiral Cell) battery?
If you do in the end choose to purchase through a Mazda dealership, as a Wild Rose Miata Club member, you'd receive up to a 22% discount on part purchases (three of the five local dealers). Well worth the paltry $30 annual club dues.

As long as the batteries they carry are small enough, its not for a miata, but my 240sx with the FMIC I installed, so I have to run a small battery to fit in place of the piping.
I would prefer to buy local, if I had no choice my last resort would be to get one from Westco.
CT, when I was there did not carry a battery small enough for a miata (what I need), unless these spiral cell batteries are fairly recent? |

Forget the Optima...go with a Braille. http://www.brailleauto.com/
Better performance, longer service life, less weight, etc... |

from what i've seen with braille's is that if it goes dead once its done for. i personally wouldn't want one. |

This is what I want to avoid in the first place. Since its not a track car, its not really ideal. |
