b18 valve spring issue - Click HERE for Original Thread

foxracing_23
For the life of me I cannot find the proper valve spring compressor. Most of them will not fit behind the valve since the wall of the head is right tight against them.
HOW DO YOU DO IT?? At this point I dont care how i just need them out

Holset Hatch
theres a cpuple styles of valve spring compressor for the dohc heads, i'll see if i can dig them up.

i use motorcycle valve spring compressors.

foxracing_23
okay, thanks for the help.

T-LAV MRV
I've used those before, very handy. another one to check out is the big c-clamp style compressor, they're good too, and can be had to a good price.

the only bad thing about the c clamp style is that the head has to be off to use it.

foxracing_23
i bought one of the large c-clamp ones and it was still to big! But I used an O2 sensor socket on the retainer and used the clamp.

one way i used ot get the valvespring retainer off would be put a big deep socket on the top of the retainer and whack it with a hammer till the spring came loose.

and when it came time to reinstall, i would use the clamp.
