hi, just wondering if MR2 owners drive there MR2s in the winter. thanx

Hi Shift,

I see that this is your first post, Welcome!!!

I personally drove mine last winter, and I really regretted it. Although my car has a tired paint job, no surface rust was present until the spring, also, I did do considerable front end damage to the car. I am paying the ultimate price now as I am having a very, very difficult time finding a new front end in time for the scheduled fall paint job. It will be something I will not do anymore. It is well worth paying the few hundred dollars for a winter Jalopy than what I did to my car.

Again, Shift. Welcome to the MR2 board!!!

When we had that freak dump of snow in the spring I drove mine for about an hour and thats all I needed to decide that it was not meant to be :P . It took me 6 runs to get into the bay at Midas on 96th and I came pretty close to sideswiping the big tire rack when my back end started to kick out.

Oh I have a mkII turbo by the way.

I heard of one MKI SC owner who winter drives his
it's red, I think he's SuperMR2 on this board :dunno:

I drove my first red 89SC thru a couple winters before. If you plan to do so, I advise having a good set of winter tires. I was running cheap all seasons that came with the car but I managed. You have to being extremly smooth on the throttle especially around corners or else your back end will just give way.

The only problem I had was the car being too low in the front. I was doing part time snow shoveling for the city.

The current SC I have is stored during the winters. I bought myself a 1990 Toyota Corolla winter beater/get to work car. :)

Heres a pic of my first SC one spring with a late snow fall. I had put my Summer rims with Advan O32R rubber on too early and couldn't get back up the driveway and into the garage.

Those are 15 inch Enkei RF-1. They're for sale if anyone is interested. I currently have some 15 inch Konig Helieums ( not pictured )

I barely drive my mr2 at all so I spend my life in various daily drivers. Last year it was a black ae86 coupe. I sold that a few months ago and picked up an 86 Porsche 944 na, not sure if Ill drive the 944 this winter or not, might pick up another ae86 or an aw11
