when my air by-pass solinoid is plugged in my car idle's between 1.5 and 2000 RPM. When I unplug it, it idles fine. Does this mean my solinoid is siezed or are there other problems has anyone had this problem if so let me know if its for sure the solinoid does anyone have a good used one?
Thanks

The solenoid is there to stop fuel vapor from escaping from the float bowls when the car is shut off and to vent the charcoal cannister. When running it should sit open to both directions, allowing them to vent into the air intake stream. On my race car I pulled out the entire assembly and removed the plunger. You should feed the solenoid about 2 volts and try to blow into the vent tube which comes out of the side. then feed it 12 volts and try again. The Haynes manual actually does an OK job of covering this.
