| holy crap thats crazy man, glad your ok. |
|
|
| CanuckDave |
Wow thats brutal, I know what getting rear ended when you're at a dead stop is like, really sucks.
Make sure to get yourself checked out by a doc, and don't even think about settling until you know you're fine, my back is still screwed from the accident and that was several years ago.
Good luck dealing with insurance, hope you can get everything sorted out quickly |
|
|
| Cyanide Ride |
Holy shit, that is a serious bash.
I would still go see someone at the emerg in the hospital.
Get well and I hope things go well with insurance. |

| TyPhOOnSliPPerY |
| who knew that subs in the back seat could be dangerous to your health |
|
|
| AudiInProgress |
| That's horrible man... And definately get yourself checked out. You might feel fine the first night and following day, wait until tomorrow, haha... That's when the worst of it settled in on me. It took months of rehab for me to finally feel "as good as before." |
|
|
| elvis |
| Im going to the doc at 4 2day i made an appointment i hope im not that bad or else its just another thing to worry aobut for me, and about the sub comment i was pretty suprised 2.. that never even crossed my mind before, i dont even think its physically possible to take them out right now, and the driver seat is totally screwd i thought it just leaned back but its actually completly fucked it doesnt click into place anymore and it wont move on the slider at all |
|
|
| elvis |
i duno if anyone here would know about this stuff but from seeing it i would assume its a write off but the tow guy said that it might not be cause he apperantly has seen some bad accidents get fixed so im not sure if this will be a write of for sure.
anyone know a thing or 2 about this stuff? |
|
|
| AudiInProgress |
LOL
Looks like a writeoff to me. |
|
|
| elvis |
| thats what im thinking but looks can be deceiving :dunno: |
|
|
| AudiInProgress |
If the impact had been on the front of the vehicle, it may not have been a writeoff, but because it's on the back... Looks to me, like you basically need the entire rear half of your car replaced...
I guess you'll just have to wait a few days until your insurance appraiser comes knocking? |
|
|
| elvis |
| yah we'll see why do u you think the front wouldn't of been as bad? wouldn't it be worse casue of the engine |
|

i was in an accident many years ago, that was only a fraction of what yours looks like
at the scene i was cleared to leave (car drivable, i felt fine) then 14 days later i woke up and couldnt get out of bed. the muscles up the right side of my neck were spazming so bad that on the way to the doctor when my dad slowed the vehicle the force of my head wanting to go forward and then the strength required to counteract this force caused the worst pain of my life.
i was stumped at first but my doctor asked my if i had any wipeouts (used to ride/race mtn bikes at the time) or if i was crushed in a football/soccer game etc or if i was in any car accidents....... bingo!!!
my family doctor form when i was born (i was 18 when the accident happened) said get a lawyer immediately!!! so this was by no means some shady doc trying to hook up an ambulance chasing lawyer, i took his advice and it all worked out. i recovered 100% and received a tidy settlement for my pain and suffering.
i am not advocating hyping up your injuries to get extra cash money, but you need to look after # 1
Martin G Schulz and associates took care of my case from the beginning to end and were very helpful. if you need these services i suggest checking them out.
good luck with the whole process buddy, it takes time and patience.

Dude, that is one wicked rear ender! Wow! I hope everything goes well for you and that you didn't sustain too many injuries.
I honestly think your car will be written off. For your sake, I would suggest it. Your car will never be the same if it gets repaired. Its like this: your dating a chick, your banging her , then you separate for awhile and then she come back sometime later, you bang again, but something is different and deep inside you know there its not the same as it was before:D
To put this in serious perspective, I got into an accident back in Dec. A chick hit me on the front pass. corner, low impact collision. Had the repair shop look at and they wrote it off. It didn't look as bad as yours hell everyone thought it was going to be repairable.
Like I said, I wouldn't want it back after a collision like this.....just my 2 cents :) |

| thanks a lot for the advice my mom told me that injuries can start a month after the accident that was hard to believe for me but i guess its true. I am 18 as well hopefully i dont get screwd throught my life cause of this. Right now i feel like i just came from the gym or something its more of a sore kind of feel on my arms and back and also my legs but my neck is starting to hurt noticabelly more than yesterday especially when i turn my head. |

yah that was kinda wierd my guess was becuase i got hit from the rear? im not sure, but the other car's airbag went off and i think he was smoking at the time and a cigarette fell in it so it almost caught on fire |
|
|

| I would take it to a repair shop who bills high. Like Doug's Place. And tell your insurance co. that's where you want it repaired. They will take a look at it and I am sure they will write it off. Probably your insurance appraiser will think the same thing. |
|

| yah thats what im probablly gona do, lets hope so, how do they base the pay off for the car? is it black book value? |
|
|
| 86SilverFox |
| dude its a write off...don't waste your time taking it to any appraisers. Just wait till the insurance people come. |
|
|
| Beerking |
| my word, I feel horrible for you. Hope nothing serious comes out of this, ie injuries. It must be tough losing your RSX, like losing a child, it looked really good and clean before. Hopefully you will get a good claim from insurance and buy something better. Good luck to you! |

The insurance company appraiser will look at your car, see what kind of mileage is on it, what kind of condition it was in (judging from the parts of the car that are NOT mangled) and then go looking around the auto trader and dealerships and stuff... Trying to find a comparable vehicle... Something in the same age range and quality-wise... Then based on THAT price (the price it would cost to buy you a vehicle almost identical to what you had) is what they will write you a cheque for...
At least that's what happened to me. |
|

wow...and now i see why there are pretty much no rental cars available in the city...
glad to hear your okay man. |

It took my mom 7 months before her injury started to affect her. Her's was similar. 8 disc's in her back ruptured almost a year later. A class action law suit ensued. She did not get nearly what she deserved and is now crippled for life. Not like a para. or anything but she cannot work more than 15 hours a week. The Dr.'s say she shouldn't be working any. She cannot drive anymore because she lost the feeling on the bottom of her right foot 5 months after.
For those who don't know what happens when a disc ruptures in your spine this is what happens. You can be walking down the street and then suddenly you fall straight to the ground in what from what i have seen only looks like one of the most intense pains possible. That is followed up by a ride in an ambulance to the emergancy room everytime. The worse was my mother had one rupture while she was on a staircase.
See a lawyer. If you are unlucky the same sort of stuff could start happening to you within the next year. |

Strip what you had added to the car off and pick your next color, as long as your ok look forward to a newer car.
It's neat how shit rips it's self out of places in cars during impact but man thats a big deck if it had riped itself loose from the wire clip it might have flown thru the other drivers head.
Goto a chiropractor or massage thingy and try some preventive medicine on yourself. |

yah i was really suprised how that happend its not just the deck that came out it was the whole center console. After i got hit it was almost like a blink i opend my eyes and i was just like ..... wtf just happend?!?! and everyhting in my car was all over the place, my PHONE fell out of my pocket?!?! After the cops came they were looking for my insurance and i usually have it clipped on my sun blocker thing (duno what its called) with my garage opener and that was totally scattered in my car im lucky it didnt fly out the back window either. |

Remember, do not sign any papers the insurance company pushes your way in regards to your personal injury claim.
In an accident there can be two seperate claims, physical damage and personal. Some will try to get you to settle both at the same time, but you do not have to.
Consult a lawyer, I believe you have 2 years to file a personal injury claim. Document and take as much time as you need to file the claim within those two years. |

exactly. You have 2 years before you have to sign anything regarding personal injury claims. I have yet to sign my injury claims forms yet since my accident in summer. However, the guys insurance company that is responsible tried to get me to sign both acting as if i had to. |

Holy shit Elvis I just found this thread!!!!
That sucks so much man im sorry to hear about that. Make sure you consult a doctor on a regular basis and take care of yourself. You can always get another vehicle but you can never replace yourself. And as mentioned by others dont feel rushed to settle your claim, my step brother got T-boned really bad by a drunk driver and the seat belt ripped his stomache right open and intestines were cut by the seat belt and spilled on the seat makeing it a damn near death experience for him, first offer for him was like 50 grand and he felt that it was like an insult offering him that little and a year and a half later after discussing it he walked away with 180,000 but the lawyer took 30,000 of that. He still has bladder problems till this day (5 years later) from that accident. But i guess what im getting at is what happened happened and theres nothing you can do to overturn that but walk away with the best of what you can get (just be honest and dont bullshit about pains because some people sound really obviouse when they are lieing).
Take care of yourself and ill call you this weekend or something we can hang out. |

You don't have to sign the car damage (the physical damage) for up to a year. However, you can't stall it for the year and keep the rental ;)
Most people sign the physical damage right away because if the car is repairable then it gets repaired and if it's a writeoff you get paid out fairly.
As for your subs you can discuss that with the insurance company. They will most likely give you a percentage of what you paid for them if you can produce receipts. Or, they'll tell you to take them out and test them. For the most part there is a little bit of padding the insurance company has for things like remote starters, normal stereo upgrades, etc..... |
