"The largest indoor paintball facility in western Canada is set to open this week in Morinville." ... "... 45,000 square foot arena -like structure with a price tag approaching 3 million."

I'm looking forward to checking it out. I don't really like PAG since they only have one field, and its always absolutely covered in paint. Also, last time I was there, they didnt chronograph anybodies guns, so i actually had numerous hits that broke skin and left bloody welts that remained for months.
Where abouts in Morinville are they looking to be? |

Is the place set up so that they can collect all of the un-broken paintballs and reuse them? In that video there are shitloads of good paintballs all over the ground.
Edit: NM, just read the FAQ. It's a reusable rubber ball. How do you confirm someone is hit though? Or do you just keep playing no matter how many times you're hit? |

I was so excited when I went to their website and noticed this picture under "Field 1".
But alas... I realized this was probably just an example of what the area can be used for.... not an actual optional "Wedding" setting for a paintball shootout. haha

that reball looks awesome. at unlimited balls, its probably cheaper then normal paintball and you stay clean! think of the guys with the guns that shoot 30bps, that will save a ton of cash. i didnt see anywhere where it says no outside paint.... i wonder if that will stand!
id love to check out the reball sometime. |

I'm guessing there will be some sting just like an actual paintball so like airsoft, you just play by the honor code. Or keep getting hit until you beg for mercy.

You begin to get the idea of all the politics that come into play regarding paintball. I'm guessing you posted Edmontonpaintball forums?

The funny thing about reballs is, how do you know who's reball belong to whom?
Looks like I'll have to clean off the girls for this shindig as well.

The reballs belong to the facility. You shoot/fill up from a common pod up area. Hits are on the honor system and you play at a lower velocity than paintball.
And it's true, paintball is the worst business idea EVER. No paintball retailer, wholesaler and field owner has realized you need co-operation in some form to grow the sport.
Instead all I've ever seen (in Alberta) is bitter infighting and politics. No field gets along with another. Tournaments are isolated. Players are conditioned and forced basically to 'love' the field they play on (stupidness). And if you play at two fields, better keep your mouth shut around the owners. Imagine if you could only play at one golf course (seems pretty silly right?). And if you told your buddies about another golf course they would go ballistic on you (idiotic right?).
And on and on and on.. (Basically the only reason paintball hasn't been outright killed is because people love the sport. Fields come and go all the time...) |

But I can't believe EdmontonPaintball has shut down every thread related to this new facility. Others openly break the rules while no other chat is allowed unless it is about PAG. Just ridiculous. |

It infuriates me because I know Jeff. (He runs EP). We've talked in person about how wants to build Edmontonpaintball as a portal site for all of Alberta.
Where everyone can come to one place and get information about tournaments and fields. Yet any talk about any other tourney/field (other than PAG) is shut down post haste without explanation. :(
I like PAG (I should put that here) and I'll catch flak for simply defending someone else's ideal (doesn't seem fair).
