I remember hearing that the base did not like to rent out to events on long weekends cause it was hard to get staff to man the one gate.

Sure no one is camping that weekend.

Brian

Mobius
They changed our March 23rd event to March 30th, because of a long weekend, but they didn't say anything about this one. I'll get in contact with the base and make double sure.

Thanks,

Connor

Feb 17th also happens to be the same day that the new knight rider comes out.

Coincidence? I think not! I may have to put the light back on my car.

I was wondering what the track is like out there. Lots of snow or just cold pavement?

At the last event the course was a mix of about 4-6" of powder, compacted snow and ice. By the end of the day there were a few spots of dry pavement, and most of the course was ice. The conditions will change, and it's hard to know what it'll be like until right before the event.

I talked to the base today, and they will have people at the gate. Good to go!

We still have lots of room for more people to sign up!

Thanks Brian.

I made a thread about the next event back in January, but since then I keep getting errors when I try to log on.

Still the 17th.

The February long weekend is specific to Alberta (and a few other provinces)...and is likely not observed by the military, as they're federal...

Plenty of companies run that way, avoiding giving their employees the Feb and Aug long weekends. Likely the case as to why we're running this coming weekend.

Mobius
Thanks for the registrations guys and gals. Registration is now closed, but be sure to look for the next one!

See you there!

Look at it melt today :(

Thank you to all of you who have registered and shown support to get these events back into the mix.

The itinerary for the day is as follows:

08:30 - Gates Open.

09:00 - This is a good time to arrive. The faster we can check everyone in and tech the cars, the more laps you'll be able to get.

10:30 - The first runs will begin.

12:00 - Break for lunch.

12:45/13:00 - Afternoon runs commence.

15:00 - Last runs of the day.

15:30 - Track Cleanup and Checkout.

16:15 - End of Event.

Volunteers:

We will be meeting at the Tim Hortons on 16039 97 St NW@ 07:30. We will proceed to the base from there to set up the track.

Directions to the Event (Starting Northbound on 97th Street and 137th Ave):

- Take 97th Street North out of Edmonton until you reach the Edmonton Garrison Exit.

- Take the exit and proceed North into the base.

- Proceed through the 4-way Stop intersection, and turn right on Churchhill Ave. There will be a security check here, tell the guard that you are with the Edmonton Rx-7 Club Autocross and he'll check your name off the list.

- Continue East until you reach a stop sign (Rhine Raod) and turn left.

- Proceed North until you come to the next stop sign (Vimy Ave.) and turn right.

- Drive eastbound and you will soon see the entrance to the airfield. Stop at the Security building and once again check in. You MUST be on this list to gain access to the airfield.

- You will be let through the gate, and then make your way to the N.E. Taxiway where the event is being held. Do not exceed 60km/h on the runway while driving to the taxiway.

- Do not speed through the base, the MP's are vigilant and won't hesitate to ticket you.

Thank you to Brian Lakusta for providing a map:

PS. (I will be mounting the RE92 for tomorrow... winter tires will be shredded to pieces, I think)

Great event guys!

Glad I didn't take Fernando's advice...and left the winter tires on. :D

Mobius
That turned out much better than I had hoped! Thanks to all you hardcore drivers. I swear we didn't even need pylons after the first couple of runs with all of the rubber on the Tarmac :P.

Thanks a lot to everyone!

On another note. For those of you who didn't sign out when you left the base...... tsk tsk. Consider this your warning. Your names and vehicles were recorded by the authorities at the Range Control, and if it happens again you will not be allowed onto the base for the events. This is coming straight from the Commissionaires. Remember, we're using property on an active military base, and they have rules that need to be followed.

Secondly, for those of you who left your Tim Hortons garbage in the snow beside the taxiway......... c'mon. Please have some respect. It's our reputation on the line, and we need that if we want to host any more events like this one.

But back to the good stuff! Pictures!

McTinkerson
50% mazda representation in those pictures. Excellent.

And just for you Fernando

And finally, someone had the balls (and brakes) to the wall (or floor!). Either that or they're titanium?

Some excellent pics in there...good stuff.

I love the pictures!!!!

Surprinsingly, that run with four guys in the Integra was Andrew's fastest run of the day! :)

Nope...

Ask my girlfriend

I ran a 1:41 after to kinda back up my 1:40 run.

The 1:40 run was a run with no screw ups... I remember one time getting slightly out of shape.

I got to use the power this time... and have 23 years of solo II experience to kinda know what I am doing out there!

:P

I told you all I needed was some weight! Look at the rear wheel-to-fender gap, normally it is 3 inches! Talk about soft suspension! haha.

Thanks again to all for a great event!

Hondascott
Another great event! I can only hope that these continue through the summer. I love the large track, and tuns of track time.

Sorry if there were two Mcdonalds coffee cups left behind. I cannot remember if I cleaned them up.

Anyway, onto the video:
