lease takeover - Click HERE for Original Thread

NESTLE
whats the deal with lease takeovers?
my dealer says if the guy sthat takes over the lease stops making payments once you tranfser the lease to him i can be fucked over.
does anyone have experience with this? or anyone work at a dealer by any chance?

wjjeeper
False!

Is someone takes over a lease they are entirely responsible for it, and their credit takes the hit if they don't make the payments.

NESTLE
you sure?
thats funny cause my salesmen at leduc chrylser said "dont do it, you can get screwed over, only tranfser it to someone you trust"

is he just to lazy and doesnt want anything to do with the tranfser cause not like he's ghettin commision off it or anything....
i dont know....this one guy only want my truck if i can transfer the lease.....and i need it gone!

If you TRANSFER everything over, you wont get screwed. But if you leave everything as is, and they take over the payments only (Like you're renting to them), than you can get humped up the ass all month.......

So make sure you transfer everything out of your name, into the new persons name. NOT everything left in your name and they take over.

NESTLE
then why the heck would my salesmen say that crap to me.
bastarrrrd....im gonna have a chat with him

The potential customer will also have to qualify at the dealership to verify that their credit is good. Just a little heads up for you.

Get a "letter of transfer obligation"

Honda gave me one when I transferred my lease to a buddy, but I wanted to make sure I was no longer on the hook for it.

It's basically a letter stating you are no longer responsible for the lease, and that the new leesee is responsible for the contract. It came in handy several times and I keep a copy in case it should ever come back to haunt me.

You need to protect your credit rating as much as you can.
