Looking for a good furnace company - Click HERE for Original Thread

I'm looking to have a new furnace installed with in the next 6 months, I do believe this cold snap has taken it's toll on my 1977 fire pit. Has anyone delt with a company they'd recommend? Anyone to stay away from?

All I can suggest is when dealing with the company discuss the warranty options and conditions. I bought my house with a recently replaced furnace and discovered that the only way to keep it's 10 year warranty was to have it cleaned/inspected every year by the company that installed it.

Their cleanings/inspections are $180/visit (Currently). To me, if the furnace/hot water tank cost $4000 originally then why would I pay half that to have it "professionally serviced" over a ten year period?

From the people I've talked to, I've already seen the $4000 price paid was extremely high as it is.

I would PM Wookey, he might be able to help I seem to recall he used to do this for a living and was commenting on how high the prices quoted usually are.

Personally i'd go with the company Blizzard Contracting. Its ran by a dude thats been doing HVAC for i think its like 11 years now. He does good work at a decent price. I'll have to get the phone number to you later cause its outside in my truck and its freezing cold. haha

Now for furnace selection it all depends on what you want. And how efficient you want it to be. Keep in mind that the higher the efficiency, the higher the REBATE CHEQUE you will receive from the Government if you apply for it. I believe some people get up to $1500 cash back from the government if you go with the highest efficiency Furnace. And i'd say it'd be around $3500-$4000 for the best one.

Also, why do you think you furnace has died?

It's getting louder, the flame's are oranger than they are blue, and it's starting to smell in the basement when it runs for extended periods of time. It was recommended by the home inspector when I bought the house 3 years ago because it's better to replace early than to have it die.

I've bought 2 furnaces from Economy plumbing and heating on 156st and have been happy. One furnace for my garage bought like 3 years ago maybe 4 and our high efficient home furnace coming up 10 years next year. The girl Colleen that answers the phone is on the ball. (just don't mention my name her boyfriend hates me)
