Both self-washes in Sherwood Park are open right now. I just came back from the one next to Home depot. I dried my entire car by hand and did all door jams/seals, I would recommend you do the same or you wont be getting out of your car.

little_one_der
You can't wait two or three days?

ron1
i work at the hughes in namao and when the temp goes below
-25 they close down the carwash cause the door would freeze and you wouldn't be able to get it open or closed so rather than risk it they close them down until it warms up try again on friday or saturday and keep an eye on the temp when it warms up they will open
BUT BE FOREWARNED
there's gonna be a line up the length of the yellowhead
they open at 7 am and close at 10 pm
any futher questions please pm me

nice to hear from a professional... why even bother trying to wash after -25 unless you got a heated garage...all your doing is created small problems when all you have to do it wait a few days, Hi: -8°Lo: -24° on tuesday

ron1
just remember to get there early cause your gonna have to wait a while

Prudz_lude
to all you haters that are bashing washing in this weather, its called air hoses and towels. The huskey on calgary trail has airhoses so you can spray out the door jams and locks. Use your towel for the weather stripping and you are good to go noobz

I washed my car Monday when it was -46 :P cept... it was more cause I filled my engine bay with snow.. completely.. like no space between rad and engine... all snow.. alll down the sides.. couldn't see belts anything... also caked my brakes in snow.. so I hosed it all down.. let the car run for 3 hours first hour with the heater on low so the engine was loosing most of the heat throught he engine bay.. then the rest with the heater cranked.

But I don't have a garage...

fredster102
yeah im obviously not gonna wash my car and leave it outside , i have a heated garage , i just dont like driving covered in dirt , i didnt get a chance to wash my car before the cold hit and now my car is absolutly caked with dirt everywhere.

I washed both my rides on monday as well. It was great cause no one was there so I took my time and wiped off my entire car inside the bay. Then carefully drove it home and parked it in the garage.
Then I went back to wash my SUV and as i drove in, the entrance door froze open. It ended up fogging up the entire 10 bay garage so bad, I couldn't even see my truck while I was spraying it. I ended up not wiping or drying it at all, but I did use the "sparkle/spot free rinse" on the entire vehicle before i left. Drove it home and parked it OUTSIDE, and there was still soap and water in my doorjams. I sprayed lock deicer into the driver side keyhole and went inside. Came out few hours later and opened all the doors and tailgate, slight crackle as the ice in the jams broke. Then it was all good.
It's been 3 days now and haven't had any problems, the SUV still looks spotless and I've been driving my friends and going out everyday. Since it's been so cold, everything that splashes up doesn't seem to stick.
I always wash it when it's cold, cause when it's warmer, I always ended up gettin' splashed by slush or something on the way home.

If you have a heated garage, and you just park in there after.. I don't see a problem? :dunno:

Terwillegar car wash? Sounds like! I used to work there.. Its all cold water and junk lol.

I like the one on riverbend road near 53rd ave... In the strip mall. Hot water and free under car wash etc.. Lots of soap too... The exit is a bit icy though.. Squeaky clean its called.

AudiInProgress
This is perfect car-wash-weather... You can wash your car, and not have to worry about it getting dirty for a while... Why wash in -10 when all the roads are slush? Fuck that.

RSN CRX
Bubbles was open yesterday

Nah, the Summerside Husky. It's good shit tho, probably the best self serve car wash in the southside, IMO. It's new, clean, the soap is concentrated, smells nice, never too busy, and the wash timers seem to stretch out your money. I also noticed that the spray gun doesn't make your hand cramp up yet the pressure is stronger than most (dirt film comes off easier). It's always hot water and free underwasher too. The door freezing was probably just a mechanical issue.

Ya it opened up last year and is probally the best one on the northside.... it has atleast 12 individual bays so you even if there is a line... its short... pretty good wash for your money... I usually can do a pre-soak, a long wash with the warm water/soap then a long wax followed up with the sprinkle rinse crap for $5-$6 their brushes are nice but you can get it really clean if you just use their pre-soak and the warm water/soap setting

fredster102
Well i found a new carwash today , right behind dunluce happy mart , you have to go through the ally behind richards pub to enter , When i say new i mean today was the first day since it reopened , i couldnt belive it , Warm water , clean , BRAND new pressure washers , and i thoroughly washed my entire car for 3 dollars , Using Soap , water , wax and power dry, including under the car with soap and water

Is there an illuminated timer? I love car washes that show you how much time you have left on your coin...
