| i ordered a intercooler a few days ago from the states. the exchange rate was $1US to $1.6x canadian. that sucks bigtime. it feels like your getting ripped off oh well. i think i will wait until it goes back up before i order any more things. hehe. |

yeah, CDN dollar DOES suck
economists & ppl of the sort say that in a decade there won't b a canadian dollar left
it'll b american
i'm 100% for that.
i dont think there is such thing as "Canada" anyways, there shouldn't at least
i mean....just cuz a dollar & a different history doesn't mean we can't be 1 giant country (look @ the USA & Texas, very diff pasts, lots of turmoil there)
i say get rid of the border, combine the 2 countries, use 1 common currency & a restructured government (or just get rid of the least productive one....CANADIAN????) |

| You think meshing into one country would help?. |

i'd gladly go for that. $1US for $1CAN. then we won't get ripped off everything we buy from the states. let alone customs charges. you guys ever order expensive items from the states like rims/tires, etc? you have to pay a premium for customs charges.

i don't understand the logic behind the 1USD for 1CAD comparison?
was it a joke or was this intended to be serious?
if it was meant as serious... do you think it's that simple?
think about the yen. 83-84YEN per 1CAD. wouldn't they LOVE to merge with canada... 1YEN per 1CAD! they'd be enourmously wealthy then huh?
point is just because the CAD numeric value is greater than the USD numeric value when doing a foreign exchange transaction doesn't mean that we are being ripped off when buying the USD. yes... currently the CAD is weak but that is not the case all the time.
this discussion reminds me of how old ppl say... back when i was young i could buy a brand new XXX car for $3000. |

I think if we merged our dollars I still wouldn't make $XX,XXX/year, it'd be a hell of a lot less. It's all relative.
Lets merge currencies with the States, and give the Canadian dollar to Quebec! |

The problem with merging the two currencies right now is because we would get a bad rate for the merge. It's like when a company buys another one out because it's stock price is low, the little company would not be too happy because their value should be worth much more. It's like the Canadian dollar right now, it should be worth more but compared to the US it's very low right now. So basically us Canadians would get a poor deal for the merger.
Although you are right, it would be beneficial to merge the two currencies, such as the European countries merged to use the Euro. It makes purchasing and trading between the countries easier and production of currency would be consolidated, which would also save money. |

| just a joke man. i know we will never merge and be a part of the states or whatever, thats just nonsense talk right. lets be real here. i'm just saying it would be nice if the canadian dollar was worth a little bit more. i'm not saying we merge with the states and get our paychecks cut in half here. in the end we always get screwed over anyways. |
