what would happen with insurance if you lost control mid run up near 200 mph.
say you rolled 50 times or some fucked up shit. Can you still claim insurance even if they can determine from distance and how fucked you shit is from your 200 mph slip?
completely theoretical question of course which would take place on a highway setting.
would it be negligence on your part? |

I hope the insurance wouldn't cover that damage for negligence and I REALLY hope the cops lock that person up for a bit and suspend his/her liscence for 5+years for being stupid!!! My opinion tho |

Ummm..... You'd probably be DEAD for starters, so at that point any insurance implications would be irrelevant.
But... in your wake you'd probably make things worse for the rest of us (fellow car enthusiasts). Cops, lawyers, politicians and insurance companies would just take your example as another excuse to try and screw the rest of us sports car owners. |

| These hypothetical type questions really shouldn't be posted in here. Especially to such an extreme as stated in the above example. |

It's a question rob. They don't hurt anyone.
You guys are taking this too serious. I just wanted to know how insurance works. Not if you would be dead, the mad tickets you would get if you lived etc. |

| They should still cover you. It's insurance! |

that what i figured, crashing into a ditch at 100 km/h means you're stupid too but they will cover you then.
I was just going to call my provider this afternoon. |

Not really. There are many reasons why you could crash into a ditch at 100 km/hr.
Best thing to do is what you are going to do is to call your insurance provider and see what response they will give you at that time.
If you are impaired and crash at 200 km/hr I doubt your insurance will cover you as they are insuring a sober person, not an impaired one. If you crash at that speed then you will more than likely be dead so it makes the point of your question moot.

I wouldn't ask them pointed questions like you posed in this thread. Don't give them any reason to raise an eyebrow and put you under extra scrutiny. |

I suppose it depends on what your relationship is with your insurance provider.
I ask them all sorts of odd ball questions every now and then. They do not even bat an eye. Mind you I am a great source of revenue for them. :D

Well I dont know how much help my lady was.
I gave them a call. She was like how fast? I was like 200 mph. She then proceeded to tell me that no car is capable of doing 200 mph, apparently it is an impossibility. But she still said that i would be covered.
I didn't give them my name:thumbup:
So there is one interesting tid bit, sorry lambo drivers, your manufacturer lies. |

I bet you that you have some clause in your insurance that states if you are doing 200mph and crash they can void your policy. If you hit someone else you will have to pay for all damages and legality issues... probably a manslaughter or murder charge.
If your car can do 200mph, chances are it is electronically limited to a set speed (say 150mph), therefore to get 200mph you must remove the limiting device. In the eyes of your insurance company, they may very well say that you removed a safety device. Removal of a safety device can void your policy.
A more common example of a removal of a safety device is the removal of airbages. I know that for all those with aftermarket steering wheels, if you are in an accident where an airbag would have probably prevented injury, the insurance company doesn't "have" to pay either the full sum or even anything for personal injury. The party at fault will have to pay for the damages to the vehicles, but if you are left paralyzed because your car lacked an airbag but you were not at fault you could be SOL. That being said you could fight it in court and may get some kind of settlement.
I phoned my insurance company about airbags, they said that I would be covered regardless of what type of steering wheel I have.... I doubt that if you are left paralyzed and seeking 10million in compensation that they wouldn't try to throw the book at you. |

When I crashed my TSX I was doing almost 100 in a 50 zone, I blew through the stop sign ( about a block from my house ) swerved to miss a car and hit a post..
when the cops came I told them exactly what happened, how fast I was going and what I did.. they looked at me funny and said " you are either really really honest, or really really stupid" to which I replied.. " i think im both"
he gave me a ticket for going through the stop sign and told me that he hoped I learned my lesson as I had just written off my baby.. |

me: What happens in the event I get a speeding ticket, then a few days later I loose control of my car and wipe out into another one witting it off. During the time I have the rental car, I get a pull over for speedin, will that have an immediate effect on my insurance premiums or will that change when it comes time to renew? Do I still get the one freebie for the collision and the speeding ticket every few years and I only have one speeding ticket show up on my abstract...
Agent.....silence......long pause.....well that depends on your previous record up to that point...
me: clean record.
agent...we would have our adjustor's look at the whole situation determine blame. It is difficult to determine this as we do not know who is at fault.
me: just curious..good thing It has not happened. :D
I like to question them on all sorts of random facts. :D
