Saturday February 9th - Ice-dice - Rob's Lake, Ferintosh - Click HERE for Original Thread

mattEG
The NASCC (Northern Alberta Sports Car Club) is going to be holding an ice-dice on Rob's lake in Ferintosh on Saturday.

When:Saturday February 9th 12PM-5PM
Where:Rob's Lake, Ferintosh
Map: http://nascc.ab.ca/images/robslake.htm
Cost:$10 for NASCC members, $20 for non-affiliated members.
More Info: More info can be found at http://www.nascc.ab.ca

Spectators are welcome! What's an Ice-dice? Think lapping on a 2KM long road course on a frozen lake. :) This is a blast, winter tires are a good idea and warm clothes. Lots of runs, very fast, very fun! Hope to see some of you out there.

Questions or whatever you can e-mail me or ask in this thread.

AudiInProgress
I have a lake?

mattEG
That must be it, since there has only ever been 1 Rob in existence. :dunno:

This is a good opportunity for everyone on here that has mouths faster than their cars to come show how they pwn everyone with their mad tyte gran turismo 3 skills.

For $20 you can't beat it.

AudiInProgress
Sure I could.

I could go home and beat off... That doesn't cost $20.00

Sorry to take your thread off track. It sounds like a great experience, and something I very well may find myself attending.

mattEG
No worries, hope to see you out there, I (matt) will be organizing so to anyone coming make sure you come say hi to the big dude driving the flat black eg.

GOT BOOST
Interesting. This would be somthing I would bring my Avalon to! :D

I will keep it in mind.

Do we need helmets?

An avalon will do fine. We've had LS400's, etc come out and do well. It's mostly driver that makes the difference in these types of situations.

Yes, helmets are required, standard auto-x rules apply. Hopefully I see you out there.

Not too worried about the avalon. It is my daily driver that I have no issues bagging out on a track! My philosophy is why buy a car and not have fun with it. :D

I will try to make it out with my helmet, warm clothes, shovel, and some hot chocolate.

Mike

mattEG
Good stuff.

AudiInProgress
Provided that my roomate pays me the $100 they owe me tomorrow (Friday) night as promised... I should be there!

choda

This weekend? Honestly? I'd be surprised if you didn't get at least a dozen laps.

Update (from NASCC)

February 9 has now been CANCELLED because it's too darned cold.
(This had better bloody well kill off all those Pine Beetles, at least)

BUT We're going ahead with the race on Sunday, February 10.

AND, we're going to run a “Solo” Event on Saturday Feb 9 -- organized by Matt Sinfield. Everyone is welcome. Bring your race car (street cars too). Get in some practice time and work out the bugs.

Thanks, but that's what I posted in the first post? An Ice-Dice is a "Solo" event, and I am said organizer (Matt). Hope to see you out.

That is to say,

THE SOLO EVENT TOMMOROW IS NOT CANCELLED, BRING YOUR CARS AND HELMETS!

Ah okies... I didn't know an Ice-dice is a solo. I wish I could come out, but I don't think my Jimmy is allowed.

Thanks for the clarification.

I should be able to attend. :D

Mike

I'll be there... will you be at the meet tonight to give me some more info? I just cleaned up my helmet =p

kevito_
What time does it start? Do you have a rough schedual? Also, do I need a race liscence for the solo or just for the racing (I don't have mine yet, lol)?

IDTrav
Ice-Dice on Sunday too or just Saturday?

rexxrally
You don't need a license for the Ice Dice Solo on Saturday.

Sunday is Ice Racing, for fully-prepared (ie, caged) race cars.

kevito_
What time does the whole thing start? :P

NYGACR
Matt will be there around 10:30. The event starts at 12.

As mentioned, no competition liscence required.

I will be there. :D

Mike

GOD DAMNIT!

I slept in!

Kevin even tried to wake me up by sending me Nudges on MSN...

:( :( :(

Geofux
I would have liked to go but I have to work at 5 ... kinda pointless to run all the way out for a few hours then leave early :(

GOT BOOST
It was a fun time had by all.

I will post some pics.

The last 3 corners took me for a ride. I got better near the end, but there is something about hitting a snowbank at 80lm/hr and not messing up your car!

haha... my driving was a joke. I had to play the grip game for 80% of the course and a little drifto in the chicane. Good times... I was surprised that I could get through the entire course... until the end when the chewed up line by the studded cars started to get slick :S

I went to get gas, came back and it was wrapped up. Next time, I guess.

I would recommend this to anyone! Just make sure you brake at the end of the straightaway, right Mike? :P

mattEG
I was happy to see you guys out there today! For those interestd there will be a full day of races to watch tommorow, they are exciting! :)

kevito_
I gotta pack for work tomorrow :S

Otherwise I'd be down to see them!

It wrapped up about 4:00 pm ish. I put on almost 30 km/s on the track. Well worth the money spent! :D

Here is a link to some pics I posted.
