| You may have to be alittle more specific with you question to get a proper answer, ie what kind of truck, what the load is, ect |

Overhanging load
16(1) During night time, a load that overhangs the rear of the vehicle carrying it by 1.5 metres or more must have a lit red lamp on the back of the load.
(2) During day time, a load that overhangs the rear of the vehicle carrying it by 1.5 metres or more must have a red or orange flag that is not less than 300 millimetres square on the back of the load.

I've run red tuck tape streamers off the back of loads I should have a flag on, got stopped at a check stop.. they checked my load for being secure and such while i was there.... never mentioned the streamers :P Not saying it was legal... but 2-3ft out the back, I don't think they're gonna worry too much as it says 1.5M or more.. so what 4.5-5ft or so...
Look at what lumber yards use.. little red plastic flags that most times are all bunched up. |

| so streamers are illegal? is there a spot in the TSA that states it? |

| Technically.. no, but you said it's only over hanging by 3ft or so, you're under the length to even need a flag. it would have to overhang by 5ft before you even "need" one. anything under that having a flag or streamer is a courtisy. |
