Last night my band was having their usual weekly practice deep in a residential area. My neighboors are always really cool, and upon asking they did not call the bylaw officer on my buddy and his bogus park job.
Yes, I did warn my friend in the past for parking like he does, and of course laughed my ass off at him when he was issued a ticket for an 'illegal parallel park'
pretty much he parked facing northbound on the southbound part of the street. $50 fine from a bylaw officer.
I'm surprised actually that he got a ticket, as people in my neighboorhood are usually pretty cool, so I dobut anyone called. and the neighboor he was parked in front of is good friends with our family and he claims he never called the cops on him. So we think that there was a domestic dispute a block down (happens weekly) and the bylaw officer might have driven by? but even that seems far fetched.
Anyways, I told him to go see the JP, dress nice, and ask for a reduction, since I don't see the purpose in fighting it as he dosn't have any grounds to stand on.
Any ideas on a possible 'story' or way he could get outa the ticket altogether. Admiditly he don't deserve it and should be laughed at for doing something so lame, but still... gotta help my people out right!? |

Bylaw doesn't respond to domestics.
And why would he look for a reduction on a $50 ticket? It's obvious he was parked illegally, tell him to suck it up. |

every block has a cranky neighbor, and they will likely be very nice to your face and then complain about noise/cars/people/pets/naked women running around behind your back.
as far as fighting this one, i dont think its worth arguing in this case, its pretty cut and dry. the only sob story that may work is if your friend says he's a broke student and cant afford- depends on the JP.
good ruck |

lol
I think thats what we all said to him last night when he showed us the ticket. Because we did warn him, and we did criticise him the same way you guys are now. |

I do not know the area involved, but it could be something as simple as that the bylaw officer was just in the neighborhood, took a wrong turn and came across your friends vehicle.
He could have been responding/finished responding to another complaint and stumbled across the vehicle in question.
You will never know what happened. Even if you do call by-law they will not tell you who for “privacy” protection.
Sooo….. if you have a neighbor that pisses you off, become familiar with the bylaws and then look for infringements, then make the call. :D They will never know it was you, they can suspect, but will not be 100% certain unless you tell them you did it. :D

There is no JP, By-law tickets can only be appealed in writing to the city (info on back of ticket)
It doesn't sound as if your friend has much hope...

yup, and he drive it in winter with summer rims. On top of that the street he lives on is narrow and has no parking spaces and very deep groves. |
