well go take a look at it before you buy it that's for sure :P take it to get inspected and expect to be there the weekend, even have a few cars lined up to take a look at so it's not a wasted trip... i bought my car from burnaby b.c and drove it back :P

Buying a car from another city in your province will only take as long as it takes you to go see it, drive it, inspect it, or do whatever else you want to do with it before handing over the cash.

I bought my car from Calgary. I drove down there Sunday morning, picked up a city map, Bargain Finder, Calgary Herald and an Auto Trader. From there I searched for 88-91 CRX's. Found a number of them and started to call. Visited the first one and pretty much bought it on the spot. The car I drive today is the car I drove down to Calgary to buy. I didn't do any inspections or anything. I'm quite knowlegeble when it comes to these cars. So any problems would have been spotted and fixed in time.

I do however recommend not doing what I did. I didn't have the car inspected for leins, or mechanical problems. I coulda got royally screwed but I hit a lucky strike.

I find that cars in Calgary also cost a little less than here and are more often than not, in better condition. Well, mine was in awesome shape for a car that's 12 years old.

Well when I got the Porsche and I wasn't working.. I went down, looked at the car and then enjoyedf the nightlife.. came back the next day and had it inspected, took er for a test drive, then went to the bank and made sure my funds were all there, the next day I swear it was a scene outta Driver or something cause it was friday morning and I had to withdraw 16,000... now you see banks have a lot of money BUT they can only give 1-3000 to each person... so picture this.. my lil asian buddy in the Jag with a map directing me allll over the city of Vancouver, and Burnaby to get cash... run in, wait, run out with the avg. 2 grand, I had to go to 9 banks to get all the cash I needed and Vancouver is CONFUSING.... so I get to the last bank, park the car, get the money, jump out and I get back and go to crank the Jag and ruh.... a ruh... ruh.. put.... it just won't turn over so f@ck here I am with the cash and it's 4 p.m... I call a tow truck and have it dropped off at the place I got the Porsche inspected (turns out the distributor was shot).. they tell me 2 days so I say ok, get dropped off at the yard and buy the car, I have no other choice to get around.... insure it, register it and pay a friggin grand in pst  so I decide to go to Seattle, give my bud some money cause he couldn't go.. something about warrants and not being a legal citizen and crap lol, so anyways I come back, Jag is fixed.. I put it on a train for 240 bucks and ship it, drive the Porsche back and there ya go.... 5 days well spent.. so if you're organized.. Vancouver would only take you 3 days, Calgary would be about 1/2 a day :P

How much does the average inspection cost 200?

redbaron303
usually less.... depends on if you get a compression test as well, that usually bumps up the price...

I hear ama does great inspections b/c they're unbiased in trying to get the car into a shop for work...

I bought my car from a dealership in vancouver before driving it. i knew what i wanted, found it, and bought it. i saw pics of it, thats all. They sent it to me on a flatbed truck on Jan 31st and i could never be happier.

I also got my car in calgary, im from red deer tho so its not quite as big of a trip. I had my uncle who lives in calgary look at it, get it inspected and when he said it was good i went to the bank in red deer, took out my $$, drove to calgary, paid them and left. I was in calgary for about 2 hours inclduing driving time.
