Was this the same amount of boost you were running at the track on friday?
If not, how much boost is low boost? I know we aren't talking 7-9 lbs.
Low boost to a DSM guy is alot different from low boost to a Honda guy. |

Well low boost would be 91 Octane as anything needing higher Octane would not be low boost.
So 490 up to 19 PSI is good.
Was it 91 Octane?
Even low boost with C-16 equates more timing and more power than 91 Octane.
Very good hp what will it do with C-16? |

Run was with 91 octane and some C-12 but no adjustments to timming!! Have no idea as to what C-16 well produce, but compared to the guys in the US who run 94 Octane I think it is close to what it well do on pump gas. All be it on the high side of things but I'm sure 425-450 RWhp on straight pump gas should not be out of the question! :fingersx: Would like to see high 500's or 600's on C-16. Now if I can figure out this clutch :blink:
P.S Blain was running just low boost on Friday night and a set of missfiring plugs! 10 PSI is low boost on pump gas for a Talon, and 20ish is low boost for racing again for Talons! 32-34 is ass kickn boost on a Talon and C-16! |

My little Getrag 282 would desintegrate at 500hp.... what are the torque figures on this demon?
Do DSM motors develop ALOT of low-end torque? or is it all high-revving power?
these little motors are quite crazy it seems... I was at prodrag/zippy's and saw that TT+SC 4g63... wow.
are the FWD dsm trannies strong? I'd love to attempt to swap one into my fiero (haha :) ) anyone want to help? :D

Well C-12 is about 112 Octane so what was your boost?
I heard guys can hit just as high of boost on C-12 as C-16.
Remember 20-30 HP per lb of boost with a turbo that big.
If you were at 22 you would loose 100 hp for 4 pounds less with that turbo.
If you were higher you will lose more.
Good numbers but it all depends on boost!

So how were you able to dyno an AWD Talon on a 2WD dyno? Did you de-couple one end of your car's drivetrain somehow? Are those #'s still representative of the hp while in AWD mode? |

No I just feel everyones view on what is low boost differs.
I felt 9 PSI is Very LOW but good for testing.
Sheppard does a 9.28 ET now at max boost of 25PSI.
I think that since you needed C-12 you would have been close to max like sheppard as you don't need any race gas until your above 19 PSI and you said LOW boost.
So you were using race gas below 19 PSI?
I personally feel you were around 23 PSI(almost max).
Share with us , It won't make a difference in the end as we are all going to run C-16 and big boost like 23-25 PSI.
What was your PSI for your low boost 490 FWHP? |
