auto x helmet - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ammo
just wondering how much one would cost and what i suld look for when i get one

MX5 Miata Guy
Price = sky's the limit, depending on brand.

Scona Cycle has always seemed to be the cheapest when I'm shopping for a new one.

What to look for = Snell M rating (you could get an SA-rated helmet, which would allow you to ice race, Solo I, etc...but then you'll need to step up from motorcycle shops to motorsports shops...such as Gee & Gee Racing in Leduc). M2005 helmets should be all that's left on store shelves, and that'll give you at least 10 years of Solo II racing in before it expires.

Ammo
whats the minimum i should be looking to spend? and what kind of events require what kind of helmet? is there a list somewhere where i can look this up?

MX5 Miata Guy
Solo II (autoslalom) is Snell M-rating...as I wrote above, Solo I, Ice Racing, and Rallying, Road Racing, etc... all require Snell SA-rating.

Current is M2000, but you won't find any of those around (unless they're seriously odd sizes)...as the M2005 helmets came out in 2006.

Ammo
so for the upcomeing autocross on the 30th of march i suld get a SA rated one right?

SilverFire
These events are Solo II (A.K.A. Autocross), so only if you want to enter other kinds of events... Like Miata Guy said -

If this is all you want, an M-rating should do fine.

honestly just buy a SA rated helmet they are best bang for buck because of variety of event that it can be used for

if u just planning on going to few club events we have two loaner helmets

MX5 Miata Guy
Why spend $400 when a $100 helmet will do?

Ammo
so one of these helmets are good for about 10 years? cuz if so i would like to have my own cuz then i can put some super stickers on it so i go faster:thumbup:
