So on Saturday morning I go and register my 84 Toyota Pick up truck at a registries on the south side.
I pull a number and before I know it they call it then call anther one. I approach the lady and said.. "you just called my number". She says "you did not come, so I called another one" I suppose you need to respond and be in the chair in under a nanosecond so you do not get passed by. So I pull another ticket and wait a glorious 10 minutes.
I go through all the bs they put you through and I get my new plate. My new plate ended with a ...294. The lady there asked me if this was alright... my reply.. No, do you have one that ends in 300. I wanted to see if they had 300 at the end. I like the even numbers. With out hesitation she says "no, this is the only one you get". Seriously why ask me if I think it is alright if I do not get a choice.
She does up the paperwork, etc and tells me my plate is now due in 2009. I reply, I only want it untill may as I plan to sell the truck before then. Her reply was "Ok fine.. it's your choice" My reply..."Yes it is my choice and I choose to register for 3 months now process it correctly"
So on the weekend I put on a few kms delivering stuff here, there, inside town outside town. (I am purging alot of stuff form my house)
Today I get a phone call from the registries saying they need me to return their call ASAP as they have given me the wrong licence plate for my truck. I need to turn it in ASAP and get a new one.
Seriously... how the fuck do you screw up giving out a licence plate and registration?
So now they want me to come in and get a new plate. I am thinking since 2 of my plates come up for renewal in May, they might be able to do something about the bill to re register as I am now inconvienienced for having to go through all their bs again.
I am sure as fuck not going to wait in line for another 10 minutes while they fix their errors.

ever been to a DMV in california, We still have it good.
I remember waiting for 2 hours in a hot sweaty building with a shit load of employees that could care less about anyone that was waiting.
The customer service was awful, if you missed a line on info that you were filling out, you got yelled at. You had a question, it didn't matter you grabbed a pamphlet and read it or went without knowing. Pretty much the way it was depicted on television is how it was.!
Edmontons competency level for employees has to be the worst in canada.
Every where you go its lacking in personal service and knowledge about ones job.
Middle aged or young.! its not biased in any way or form. Its more luck really to find someone that knows what they are doing. |

I bet she was over 30. There is a reason why she is working at a registry.
The same goes even with simple things like ordering a burger at burger king. No mayo please.... You get your burger.. you find mayo. |

Just tell the DMV to come and get your plates, and that you might be home in the hours between 8 and 4. :) |

all the registeries in Edmonton are retarded,
somehow without noticing the stupid lady at the DMV let someone else register a vehicle with the serial number on my dads van,
so 2 weeks later my dad gets pulled over and gets a fine from a cop because the car he was driving was not registered,
although he's owned the vehicle for the past 10 years and he finds out that the registeries made the mistake because they are so "competant" and he's been arguing with them for close to a year now and they are still being retards!!! |

| I'll give two thumbs up for any AMA registry I have ever dealt with. It's under $100 a year, people. Just pony up, and enjoy the most wonderful customer service that you'll ever encounter! |

registration is supposed to be under $100 a year anyways.
i find that with AMA registry, you need to have a membership to use it. thats perfectly fine, but its not like we get any discounts on out stuff, and its not like the line-up goes by any faster, so i just go to whichever ones most convenient |

I meant the AMA is under $100 a year, I have the Plus, I'm not sure what a regular membership is worth now.
You don't get any discounts on registries related stuff, but the lines are always minimal and they seem to require competency on the part of their employees. |

10minute wait? consider yourself lucky.
Try going to the registries on 97th and 137th ave. You could spend you're afternoon there waiting in line.
Usually listening to immigrants argue with the staff about failing driver's tests, because they dont even understand english. |

I have issues waiting in line for 10 minutes at a registries office for incompetent people.
I also have issues waiting in line for 10 minutes when most of the wickets are closed, yet people are at the desks appearing to do nothing. Every now and then they could say “It will be a few moments sir and someone can help you” rather than having their faces glued to the screen and ignoring everyone in line.

Just an update...
I have received a call from them every day this week asking to confirm my plate.
When ever I have called back, I am put on hold. I can not stay on hold for too long as I have more important matters to attend to during my week.
Last night they call again and leave a message telling me to bring in my plate today (Saturday) so they can exchange it. Apparently who ever left the message said anyone can help me and they will know what it is about.
Being a huge critic of incompetent people and operations I decide to call a few minutes ago before I make the trip just to see if they know what is going on.
In summary here is the reply.
The lady I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about, who ever was calling me she does not know, her supervisor is away until Tuesday. She then said can I come back in the afternoon and they "might" be able to have it figured out.
My reply... You have it figured out first, call me with a solution, and I will come in next Saturday.
