| that would suck. i was driving on highway 16 through spruce grove and seen a green 93 chev truck driving beside me all sudden he flicks on the lights and chased down another truck. those police lights were hidden pretty well. i was about to speed by him.. |

legalized theft and an extreme punishment, will do more harm then good.
why would anyone ever stop in that area if they thought they might be suspected of street racing. you are losing ur car if you stop but if you try to bolt from the cops, you might actually get away.
seizing a car for street racing, a relatively minor crime (and one with a huge degree left up to opinion and interpretation) when its all said and done, is not much different then the government seizing your house for not shoveling your driveway. |

| Gotta love how the police are so proud of getting these nice cars and the 3000 dollar rims for free. Seems like they are more concerned with the fact that they got these done up cars more than the fact that they were used for street racing. Basically if you get cought you might as well run or drive your nice car into a tree. |

What if I owe $50,000 on a car, and they steal it from me... is it still registered to me? Or them? Where is it legal to take someones car, but keep them paying for it?

the other thing about this is, aren't laws suppost to be fair and consistent in their application?
car's values are pretty inconsistent, so i'd love to know the laws logic on seizing someone's car as punishment that is say a 500 dollar beater vs someone's car that just happens to be a ferarri. |

cops decide whats street racing + little chance to disprove it + cops get to drive whatever they seize = prime breeding ground for cops to abuse their power. |

I think you mis-read the article. The police seize the vehicles, slightly modify them, and use them as police cars to catch other street racers so the other racers are not alerted, as it's not your typical cop car. They don't use them as personal vehicles.

| I gotta honestly say, if I was in a city/state/province where that happened. My car would be meeting a tree before it ended up being used by the police. Even if I have to continue my payments on the vehical (which I would have to either way I believe) I'd rather have it destroyed then them have it for nothing. |
