| hey i have a 98 accord coupe 4 cylinder . 5speed . clutch is slipping , got quoted at millhoods honda for 1521 with 850$ labour and 650$ for a pressure plate friction plate bearing and seal . i was wondering since the cluch is slipping would it be more cost effective if i just got only the frcition plate or w.e u would need and i could do the install myself no problem - or are there any shops in town where i could get the parts cheaper ? thanks a lot |

replace the entire clutch assembly...
Shop online, a decent clutch kit should be under $300 and another 50 to resurface your FW. So expect a little over $400 total at your door for all parts.
Do the clutch yourself, they really aren't that hard in a honda. I've helped do a couple in a shop /w a hoist and they were done start to finish in just over 3hrs. There are plenty of how-to's online and you dont need much (or any) for specialized tools. |

Why not call up a place, such as Wilson's Autotech, that may specialize in Honda/Toyota, and they can give you a rough quote of parts/labour over the phone? Or a transmission/driveline shop like Protech? That will tell you whether Honda is even in the ballpark, and give you a more realistic quote.
I've never done a clutch on the car you have, but 8 hours (I assume that comes to 850 now) of labour for a clutch job on a FWD vehicle seems a bit high. |

yeah they said 7 1/2 hours.. not sure how that goes to 850
where could i look for the clutch online? honda's prices were 330 for pressure plate 110 for friction 210 for bearings and 40 for seal
and i should replace everything? |
