I'm having a problem with the passenger side door on my integra, it doesn't completely close. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's like when you don't shut the door hard enough and it clicks into place but not fully closed. Also, when the door is being shut it sounds like there is something in the way, like when you leave the seatbelt hanging out.
I'm pretty sure that it's the locking mechanism and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
I'd like to fix this because
a) the door isn't flush when closed
b) I can't arm my alarm since it'll go off immediately afterwards because of this
c) it's annoying having my door light flash randomly while driving
I did a search on honda-tech and I couldn't find anything. Do you think that it'd be hard to fix/replace on my own? I've never really worked around a car but I'm sure that I can handle it if it's not too involved.
Thanks |

Same thing that happened in my prelude, Check that little hook thingy that latches onto the metal rod to close the door, my hook thingy was broken and just stayed open,
(Yes i know "Hook thingy" isnt the best description ever but ive had a long morning) |

Yes!
I had the exact same thing happen to my car not 3 weeks ago. The door wouldn't close properly and I was like... Awww fuck, time to rip the door apart. But then it just turned out to be the "knob" that the door latches onto the frame. It's a giant hex-head screw and that "hook" that you make reference to was perfect leverage after I had tightened it... To wrap the screw into the fram a few more times.
Haven't had a problem since. |

Its called a striker, and if the door is low it is referred to as Hanging.
Bushings in the latch can wear causing a door sag / hang making it hard to close the door.
Also if your striker has been moved it can be hard to close the door as well.
Lube that shit up first. It could be as simple as that to fix.
