looking at the evo one guy asking the salesman if they started at evo7, then the salesman says that the first ones in north america were the 9s in the states. the kid then talks about how there is one evo1 in edmonton.
i heard about 5 different poeple call the challanger a charger.

Hmmm. I don't know about most people, but I would take the new XF over pretty much any Lexus.
Lexus is 5x the quality of a normal Toyota family car though. |

What you missed... is that nobody gives a shit about that kind of nit-picking. To the average joe public, are they really going to make the distinction? Every previous GTR was a "Skyline GTR", and even though Nissan is keeping the new one distinct and the G35 line is actually the current Skyline, most people probably don't know or care. They will always associate the Skyline <---> GTR.

As compared to what? The GTR's MSRP is $80k...that for a car more capable (though less good looking) than a Porsche 911 Twin-Turbo, which is more than double the price.

Being a drifting booth there were lots of young bullshitters. One guy was going on about how he was putting an RB20 in his Silvia because he'd blown up the stock twin-turbo SR the year before.
Ummm, the turbo under the Aristo's hood was everything from a supercharger to a cold air intake to a nitrous manifold. The car was a Corolla on many occasions .... which I really don't get. Was called a Supra, Skyline, Chaser and several others as well.
Shawn's car was a Cefiro, Silvia, Skyline, Impala SS by at least a dozen people (Whoa! This Impala is making 420hp at the wheels!).
The number of kids asking if there were any Skylines at the show was mind-numbing. I didn't realize there was still that much stigma surrounding them. The best was the couple of German guys.

There is actually a difference. The smart car does not have a torque converter like a typical automatic. Instead it uses a computer actuated clutch. What the lady was describing is actually quite accurate. In "automatic" mode, the computer disengages the clutch, changes gear, and then re-engages the clutch. |

I guess a few of us just expected a little more knowledge and specification, especially from a forum that is mainly dedicated to tuners, unless I've been misled by the forum name. And Nissan really should have put up a stand/sign that stated the name/history/specs. if it were to be the centerpiece. Maybe it was there and I just couldn't see it with everyone crowding around.
This was just funny. When I was standing at the Lambo/Lotus display, there were 2 Asian guys who got to sit inside the cars. Beside me were 3 younger Asian guys.

gtr is just a badge that goes on nissans from time to time.
its nissans highest end performance badge really. they dropped it in the mid 70s because they stopped producing cars that were 'worthy' of it due to fuel crisis and gay looks and cutting back on power. they picked it up again on skylines in 89 when they produced a badass performance car again that was worthy of their legendary GTR badge.
they dropped it again when the r34 was phased out, probably because g35s/skylines were not for performance anymore, but much more luxury oriented. there was definitely nothing worthy of the gtr badge after the r34 gtr was dropped so once again no gtr.
so now its today and the skyline seems to be evolving into a luxury car right now (it'd be a stretch to call it that before, even though it was always kind of pricey new), and current skylines have very little in common with performance. The gtr has just about nothing in common with current skylines, so i guess nissan chose to call it just a GTR, because its very far from the current skyline brand.
so ya, its not really a skyline; its a evolution of the GTR skyline, but its not a skyline because it shares nothing with the current skyline line up... not even the name. |

At the Bently section there was a young brown couple letting there (approximately) 2 year old child run loose. well the little girl crawled under the fence surrounding the Bently's and started wrenching on the door handles smacking the rear fenders. her parents obviously thought it was cute so they started to take pictures!!!
Needless to say, that didnt last long and the little girl was escorted to her parents where they took her to the next section of cars for her to terrorize.

yes cuz thats what i would look for in a drift car, something that costs 80g to buy so when i put it into a wall its a 80g loss. Then i'd want 285 tires on the back in a 20in rim that would cost a billion dollars to replace every month. |

Needless to say, that didnt last long and the little girl was escorted to her parents where they took her to the next section of cars for her to terrorize.
I couldnt believe it.
