How many Muffler Systems have you gone through? - Click HERE for Original Thread

BlueTurboEGG
I personally have 6 systems myself since owning the car. I've had everything from a Dynomax to a Piper, I've either had them blow out or hated the sound.

I've been quite happy with Brullen, except for the noise level. It's low and solid sounding, not like an extended fart. But loud.

I have a 3" downpipe with a 3" SS flex, that goes into a Brullen 3" in 2x 2.50" out muffler in the location of the stock fuel tank, two 2.50" pipes going underneath the rear suspension straight back to two twin square slash cut tips.

I love the way it looks. But I have a few clearance issues because the muffler is slung so low.

What about you guys?.

on my 2nd one right now but 3rd one just came in. i'll be selling 2nd and 3rd exhaust system in the fall to buy 4th one .

1st cheap ractive muffler with crush bent piping
2nd mandrel bent SS n1 2.5" catback
3rd bpmTT(twin tip) axle back to replace the n1, not much of a fan of huge tipped mufflers anymore
4th don't know yet. need something big enough to handle some boost and a fairly quiet

well, I don;t know if the stock one counts....but if it is. I'm on my second. running a 3 in downpipe, with 2 1/2 in exhaust piping with a redline muffler. I'm quite happy with what I got but I might be moving onto a 3rd soon though. Just wanna try out the R1 CarbonFiber.

BlueTurboEGG
How did the N1 sound on your Impreza 2000Silver?... I never really had the chance to hear what an N1 sounded like except on that Auto Purple Integra.

Yes, the stock counts, I set the voting up so you can look at it like this:

1-2 -First muffler going onto second
2-3 -Second muffler going onto Third
3-4 -Third muffler going onto Fourth

etc.

Toby at Racing Zone just installed a 3" Kakimoto exhaust, man does that sound nice, not too loud. But waaaay too much $$$.

RX_AGENT
I've just upgraded to a true dual exhaust on my 2nd gen rx-7. I have a custom dual header, 2 '2.25' pipes going out to 2 Magnaflow free flow mufflers. It is damn loud, can't wait to test it out though this spring on how well it performs.

REFLUX
is that Toby guy driving the WRX wagon??? if he is it's pretty nice

BlueTurboEGG
Hey RX_Agent, is your Rex a Turbo?...

Yeah, Toby's driving a nice Rally blue Wagon with STI emblems, suspension (ordered the forged aluminum suspension bits) STI hood scoop, STI instrument cluster with 3 Blitz gauges, Kakimoto exhaust, OZ 18" wheels <sigh> Nice, nice car...

2000silverimpreza
that toby guy sounds like he's got a pretty sweet wrx.
BlueTurboEGG i recorded a sound clip of my exhaust awhile back. if you want to hear it let me know, i can e-mail it to you.

BlueTurboEGG
Yeah, he's got a pretty nice setup.

It's funny when I'm in the shop helping him out...

"Now I remember how much of a pain it is to have a turbo car"

"Don't say I never told you so"

"Well, when I had my Sylvia in HK, if I had any problems, I'd just find someone else to fix it for me"

"Ahahahahahaha!"

Yeah, I'd love to hear a recordign of your exhaust, check you messenger for my email

RX_AGENT
BlueTurboEgg....no, unfortunatly it's got no Turbo

BlueTurboEGG
Sil-Imprez-Thanks for the sound sample, that was pretty cool.

RX_Agent- Do I smell a 3 rotor conversion on the way?

I had this vidclip from a Best Motoring VCD with a guy who has a 3 Rotor Turbo in a AE86 600HP and 600LB/Ft or Torque...

When he drops the hammer, puff of smoke, just gone...

RX_AGENT
BlueTurboEGG-In my dreams haha. I'd probably have to ship my car somewhere cuz I haven't heard of anyone in Albera having experience in dropping a 3 rotor in anything.

Rotorheads in the states say you'll need about 15000USD and about a year of downtime to do the conversion, esp if you're driving an N/A. That's also considering that you can turn your own wrench, and get minimum help. If you get it done by someone else it can easily cost 30000USD or more

BlueTurboEGG
Holee crap!...

Never thought it would be that expensive... My guess would be to get the motor, tranny, harness, and then a stand alone and plenty dyno time.

Then of course, getting it all to fit.

Who is it that makes the 3 roto drop in kit for the late model Rex?...

RX_AGENT
Well that's what I read time and time again on the Rx-7 forum.

I have no idea about the 3 rotor drop in kit.

BlueTurboEGG
Sheesh, I guess the RX forum would know...

I remember seeing that article in an older issue of SCC, it features a bolt-in sub frame in the engine bay so all you have to do is lower the 3 rotor in and bolt it up, no positioning needed!.

It was something like $14 large US... I'll have to look for it now.
