Not sure yet. I've got a tire dilemma to ponder

1) Race on my brand new 18" S-03 Pole Positions. That means racing on a 275/35-18 tire -- they're wider obviously than my stock 16's, but less flex due to lower profile, and would probably be even harder to launch with. Also that's expensive rubber to be burning off at the strip. Not to mention the 18" tire & rim combo is heavier than stock.

2) Race on my old rear Dunlop Sp8000s (stock 245/45-16), which is what I used last year. However, with the bad cracks (severe in some spots) across the tread surface, I don't think its worth the risk now. (in one spot it looks like the tire wants to come apart at the seam or something)

3) Put my stock front rims w/ 225/50-16 Sp8000s on the back. They still have some tread and no cracks, so they'd be safe tire-wise. But that means racing on a narrower tire (less traction?). Also, not sure running down the track with 245/40-18 on front, 225/50-16 on back is a great idea. *shrug*

BEST OPTION (but no $$ right now) :tear:
4) Buy a pair of 255/50-16 BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials to mount on my stock rear rims.

Unfortunately only Option 4 is assured to get me better times than I achieved last year (in the vein of always looking for constant improvement of course).

And I think that option 1 & 3 would give me worse results... what do you guys think?

:dunno:

If you love racing that car at the track, then do option 3. It really wouldn't "hurt" to do it, would it? Plus, you would get a hands on feel for what tire differences really can do. Good luck with the decision.

I suppose I could "test" option 3 on friday at the Street Legals.

If my results SUCK, then I just don't race on sunday at the BOI and I could put my $50 entrance fee towards my "Drag Radial Savings Fund". :D

hey aron can i ride with you?????

Option 4 for yours and everyone's safety. I also understand your looking for better e.t.s not just a few runs down the strip. Wait for 4. Save the 18s for lateral traction.

Looks like I"m not going. I don't have an NHRA approved battery box and I don't have a battery cutoff switch. It's not that it is hard to do or get, but I just don't have the time to put that together before the BOI. I'll just look at it on the bright side, I save $50. ;)

Hey Aaron, since you're not going to race, can I borrow your tires for the weekend?
:D
j/k
