I got back from Mexico 2 weeks ago, though id post some pics of the resort and pools and shit. The resort was awesome and meticulously maintained. We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal.

i bought myself a new SLR camera so i could take on the trip so some of the pics are blury and some turned out awesome.

My brother has almost chosen that resort for his wedding (I don't think its 100% yet); is there anything at all you didn't like about it??

We looked through some of the reviews online but it's hard to understand their interpretation of the english language

That resort chain THE fucking shit. I went to the Gran Bahia Principe Rio San Juan in the Dominican, the resort was absolutely fantastic.

Blackout-spec
yah its a nude beach. not everyone goes topless, only the old ladies when i was there. its totally optional.

also, everyone i talked to before i went there said they loved it thats why i went. the food was great, they didnt chince out on anything. drinks were awesome too>not watered down liquor like some complained off, and the grounds were always perfect!

check tripadvisor.com that where you should go if you want good reviews.

1 week is enough though, the food gets boring and you just get bored of the same place. i would go again, but not before i hit up some other resorts first.

as for dislikes:
this resort is huge, like 7000+ rooms huge. there are 3 resorts all together and you get access to everything on all 3. there are little busses that run everywhere between the resorts so you dont have to walk. when we first got there, we were suppose to be in the Akumal resort of the Bahia Princepe, and we ended up in Coba. apparently they over booked akumal so we were put in coba. i was so pissed because coba was way cheaper to stay at. next morning we went to the desk and got everything worked out, they were very helpful and treated you like your the only one there.

the akumal part is by the beach and the coba part is behind the akumal section closer to the highway( confusing huh?, just search for a map on google and you will understand). the coba section sucks because your so far from anything, if you want to go to the beach its a 15 min bus ride.

Sounds like a hell of a trip. BTW what kind of SLR did you get?

Blackout-spec
i bought a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT SLR. its way bigger then a digital camera and takes a lot of learning to get the hang of it. I still have no clue how to properly take some pics.
All those pics are original from the camera, i have not photoshoped them at all.

heres a link to it:

Good to hear you had a good time. I just got back from there on wed night. We stayed at Akumal also, we were in 5415, so we were real close to the beach, and the 24hour snack bar

I would recomend this place for sure. and the setup they have for weddings on the beach looks REALLY good. there were like 3 weddings during the week we were there.

Blackout-spec
ya we were in 50 on the 3rd floor. the 24hr snack bar was not the greatest, but if you need to get drunk at 3am thats the place to be. i would not eat the food there, it tasted like shit the first time i tried it.

huge place huh?

_luffy_
how much was the trip? did you see a agent or online? place looks crazy

jdmtalon
i went to that same resort last year. stayed in the coba section. was tons of fun!

Blackout-spec
for the 2 of us our tickets were 3300$ plus we spend another 1000$ on shopping, tips, and activities like the dolphins, quadding, the ruins etc.

jdmtalon
i personally went through air transat on a "last minute deal" (booked about a month ahead still) and it was around $1400 a person after taxes, fees, etc. including flight, and that was with a suite as well. i recommend booking last mintue to get the best deal.

_luffy_
don't think I can do last minute deals cuz I plan on going with lots of people probably doing a group buy anyone know any info on this?

they usually have up to 10 seats available last minute. unless the group is larger than that, you might be okay with doing that. you will save a minimum of $400 a person

yeah I agree the food at the snackbar was pretty bad. The snackbars at coba were a little better IMO. did you guys go to the lookout tower at coba? the old lady and i did some unmentionable things up there at 2am one night. hahaha
