I was thinking of buying a chevy impala for 4g's it has a 383 stroker and 4 speed auto tranny not much rust as far as i can tell. Is this a good investment are cars of this era xpensive to fix and what would the insurance be like

I would say fixing it wouldnt be expensive. Guess it all depends if its all original or not. If its not then you can get parts for it anywhere you can find them and not have to worry about keeping it all numbers matching. Also a car of that year would be easy to work on, lots of room under the hood and no electronics.

As for insurance that all depends on the value of the car. If you pay 4g's for it and its worth that then you just pay insurance on that value like any other car. But if you restore it and it becomes worth some money then you would have to get the car appraised and pay the insurance according to the appraisal value.

I had a 67 camaro and a 69 GTO in the past. Neither car where numbers matching but they where worth a few bucks each. I just had them appraised and gave that to the insurance company. Even with the appraisal value (the camaro was appraised at just over 20gs and the GTO was close to 20) the insurance was less then a thousand on each car for full coverage.
