Has anybody else noticed that most automotive advertising is getting less and less creative & is just cutting directly to the base message?
EG. - Ford Focus has a website www.sociallifeaccelerator.com
- Mazda CX-7 "never lose your cool"
- Toyota Tundra, where the salesman & customer hop in & instantly are far more muscular.
- Ford Superduty has Paul Brandt asking if you're man enough to own this truck.
Has the general buying public become so brain dead that these commercials actually work? |

I saw a Ford commercial yesterday that stopped my fingers in mid channel switch. A guy driving a car drives to the ocean, watches it freeze, drives across it to the lady he loves and says "I forgot to tell you something" and whispers in her ear as the commercial fades out.
It was like a epic mini movie.
Other than that, yeah, auto ads are pretty lousy for the most part. Maybe I'm overly critical because I work in the advertising industry.

It is like a normal car commercial at first, bu then it starts to pan into more of a movie feeling. I havent seen a commercial for a car like that for a while. |

On a local note anyone catch the "Credit Kings" radio ads for park Mazda?
I will never ever go to their dealership specifically because of that commercial. |

| Hilarious that a Mazda dealership in a white suburb is using rap to advertise how good of financing they can get you? Yeah. Doesn't really make me want to go there though, and as was said it kinda makes me want to do the opposite. |

| The commercial with the people dressed in blue doing body sculptures of new Ford vehicles is pretty cool looking. But I saw an add for the new G8, and it was going on about the word CAR (all caps) like it's some kind of adjective, but they never define what the hell CAR is supposed to mean. "Nothing has ever been so CAR." "..know CAR is a live and well." WTF is CAR? |
