Is there a site or link that someone may know of that shows what the fine of a violation may cost you? Is there a maxium amount that they are allowed to charge? IE: speeding tickets

If you budget for $1,000.00 a year in fines you should be ok! :D

There is a sticky for this Edwin! :stickpoke http://www.infratrans.gov.ab.ca/INF...splquickref.pdf

I did not think there was a max amount they could charge you with.

I think "someone" is full of shit.

The fines have a set FINITE value... cops can't just make up dollar amounts and fine you whatever they see fit.

SilverNeonRacer
I suppose if you break every rule int he book with the police chasing you the fines could add up.. you know like running a red 4 times, not stopping for peds 12 times.... etc etc I dunno if there is a max in that aspect...

But like Rob said per ticket it's a set value... so it's not like the cop could take a Equip violation ticket and because he doesn't like the color of your car and write in $1500.

I think at this point is stops being a moving violoation and starts being criminal charges (e.g resisting arrest/ evading ..etc. I am not really familiar with those). I still hope the offender gets his/her license revocted along with the prison sentence.

~30oZ~
Does that count for the judge also? Or would he/she have the power to make the "end cost" higher if they feel they should. Like if you get a ticket for speeding in which there is no amount written like the pink tickets could the judge fine what ever they want? like the $15,000.

If you get a ticket so bad that the police can't fine you... And you get sent to court to deal with it, I presume the charges would be much heftier - however - I would think the judge also has a scale to go by when fining someone monetarily.

Why?

Do something extremely stupid?

That one seems a little out of line with the rest of them. I would think running a red light would be more severe than not yielding to a pedestrian.

why?. its a joke, its not like I really speed.

I saw only 1 copcar parked on the AH today facing easybound traffic, and a van on the SPFwy with Photo.

Nice to see them out doing their job.. and I'm glad they're out there keeping an eye out for retarded drivers.

Absolutely wrong.

Failure to yeild for a pedestrian is one of the most severe infractions of the law...

And I've seen people get pulled over and handed the $575 ticket for not slowing down, coming to a stop, and letting someone cross the street.

I understand that's what it is, I'm just saying that cruising through a red light seems like a more "unsafe condition" than if you saw someone at a crosswalk & didn't stop.

I don't think either is acceptable & it is personally a pet peeve of mine how only about 10% of drivers actually stop for pedestians to cross.

AudiInProgress
My mistake then.

I guess it depends on the circumstances.

If it's 4am and you're driving to work down some back ass road and there's a red light and nobody around for miles... Go through it, I don't care.

If you're in the middle of the city, and there's a mother with her two small children trying to cross the street, and people are blowing by them at 60km/h... That's BS!

But failing to yield to a pedestrian has a very good chance of costing the pedestrian their life. Car vs. Man.. Car always wins. While running a redlight is as dangerous, other motorists are a bit more protected by their vehicles. I however assume if there is a pedestrain in the crosswalk where the driver ran a redlight, the driver would get charged with both infractions.

Yup.. actually almost saw that a while back, I was south bound on 95st and 102ave(right by hughes) all southbound lanes had stopped, the left north bound lane stopped... so a lady with her stroller started to cross west to east... far right northbound lane a photo radar minivan came flying up slammed on the brakes locking up and almost hit her.... the rest of us had been stopped for a good 20-30 seconds by now...

I have been guilty of that as well though...

In a bad mood or whatever, driving around, seems like every light catches me... Driving, driving, then all of a sudden people up ahead of me stop for "no apparent reason" and I pull into the open lane and speed up to go around everyone... Only to find out there are people crossing the street.

Fuck.

ALL CROSSWALKS SHOULD BE MARKED *AND* LIT with those crossing lamps...

Ruiner
so failing to yield for a jaywalking pedestrian is classed as what?
