Man have I been out of the loop. I haven't been into sledding since the Vmax-4 was king.
When did they get so short? It's 4 stroke right? No need for big ass pipes under the hood? What's the purpose of pushing the rider so far forward? Where's the fuel tank? |

its actually a bit longer by a few inches comnpared to the average mountain sled of a few years ago. the nose is shorter but the skis still stick forward, the engine sits down and back, the clutches have been moved around, etc. to make a tighter, lower, lighter package. Its a complete cunt to work on, lol.
4 stroke yes. 1050cc, 3 cylinder, 4 stroke. stock dynos around 135-140hp. Mine will be in the neighbourhood or 230hp :D
the pipes are in the tunnel, no more huge ice buildup on the top of the tunnel
rider forward is how all the new sleds are going, it puts the rider in the center of the sled so that you get bumped around less on bumpy trails, the front and back of the machine move 'around' the rider making it smoother. I can ride it hard for a long time on the trails before i get sore at all.
fuel tank is in the normal place, the hump just in front of the seat. Its kind of small though, only 7 gallon, so the range now that its turboed won't be great, but i can buy a 10 gallon tank for 300-400 so i am seriously thinking of doing that.
153" track, 2" paddles. dry weight is around 550 iirc. so close to 600lb wet weight. i want to stop and weight the sled w/ full fuel, extra jerry can, tool box, turbo, etc. to see exactly what it weighs. Really tippy compared to older sleds, you sit higher and the weight of the machine is lower so you move around more, lean more, etc. almost like riding a bike more than riding a traditional sled. But once your used to it its really easy and very comfortable. |

Haha, dammit Glenn, I forgot to send those pics over ... you hadn't messaged me at all about them. I guess you were off riding all weekend anyways.
Sled's looking good. Unfortunately I can't watch the vids on the shitty comp here at work. |

highmark nothing, i would have gone straight over the top if i hadn't gone too fast and lost it. And i don't go in areas that are avalanche hazards. Most areas i go into are pretty easy since i do 99% of the time i am riding with my grandparents on their stock Phazers.
I'm not a big highmark guy i prefer playing in the powder and in the trees w/ the occasional climb. the most fun i had this year was hunters range in 2 feet of fresh in the meadows. |

| Fresh powder FTW. Its a hard feeling to describe, its epic fun when you can roll your sled 90* and keep going.... Not that I know what that feels like. The only time I had my sleds out this year my kidneys almost popped jumping drifts in the good old windswept prairies :( |

hahah yea i know, that face doesnt look bad at all.
i just like the videos of the guys going out in the big mountains when the avy danger is high, and having contests who can die faster:dunno:
its guys like that who make backcountry rescues cost so much, so when a skier/boarder needs to be puled out it costs them 10k |

ya, the face was pretty hard packed overall, its right by the cabin at Renshaw, were the shadow is visible is almost straight up and thats why i had a problem. Too much power and hit it too fast, jumped it out of the snow and wheelied it, it started to turn back towards the 'edge' and i bailed and watched it ride
i've watched a few videos where it seemed that they were trying to purposefully set the avalanche and then outrun it. I guess its just natural selection at its finest
Edit: i should add that i still have one trip left this year too, so who knows i may still end up with more photos of killing some part or another. but i doubt it. I'll be heading out with my dad and he only gets one trip a year, will be cool hearing his MM700 w/ his aftermarket muffler, man it sounds nice. |
