im going to be looking at buying a new or slightly used car in the next few weeks (financing permitting) for a daily driver. the lude will basically be a weekend/ nights car and i would have piece of mind for something decent to drive whenever it breaks something lol. ive narrowed it down to the following choices.
2008 Civic SI
2006-2007 Subaru WRX
2008 Subaru Impreza 4door Non-Turbo
2008 Mazdaspeed 3 (kinda pricy so its a big maybe)
2004-2005 Infinity G35 6spd
max budget would be around 30k
im leaning towards subaru for the awd in the winter, and the turbo wrx has some balls. it would also be nice to have a warrenty. any opinions on other cars or the ones listed? im going to start shopping in probably 2 weeks. also anyone have some opinions on dealerships i should visit. im thinking alberta honda and subaru city. anyone know anyone working at subaru? i know a few salesmen at ab honda already. |

| Get the G or the WRX. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| those were the 2 at the top of the list. civic seems like a lot of money for...well....a civic. non turbo impreza would be boring. |
| Prudz_lude |
| Get the G, but honestly i don't think you could afford a G, a brand new one for that matter. They are 60k....If you buy a used one nearing 100k you could get it for around 30k. They are not cheap cars by any means. |

Four door G FTL
You could just get a stock 5th gen. No warranty but it wouldn't be expensive, it looks great and you know how to fix them  |
| 2ndgenlude |
| thats popped in my head a few times. but even 5th gens are getting old. 2001 is still 7 years old right now, and would have zero warrenty. i just want something i can drive and forget about. i doubt a dealership would even finance a used lude. |

| The G35 is not bad and I beleive they are AWD. I am actually impressed with the Civic SI performance...... it's an H and would be new in your price range...... or a WRX. Quick but ugly as sin!!!! |
| Prudz_lude |
| Yah the 4 door G's are awd. They handle extremely well in the snow/ice. I would get a coupe though. Wait to find a 6 spd though. The autos suck. |

| 2ndgenlude |
| well guys. i just signed the bill of sale on a nighthawk black 2008 civic SI. should be able to pick it up early next week. as long as financing goes through. i was approved at alberta honda, so i shoulld be at millwoods lol.they are ordering the aero kit for it and installing. edwin at millwoods honda was a big help, and he got me a killer deal. props to him (username ~30oz~) i would recommend him to anyone looking for a new honda. i will post pics as soon as i get it home. |

| Congrats tyler on the new Si, hopefully it treats you good. One of your cars should finally  |

| AudiInProgress |
My vote would have been 2004 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8 Turbo
You can get one with like 75,000km and warranty for $22,000.00 to 27,000.00 depending on options...
Even one without quattro and slightly higher mileage if you want to get under 20,000.00 |

Finally, somebody with a new SI that I can line up against. I've been dying to see how the lude will do next to one of those badboys. What do you think Tyler?
Oh, and I think we should organize a cruise sometime, just around the Henday or whatever... anybody? |

| ive actually been curious myself to see how one will do against a lude. im pretty sure it will be quicker, but by how much is the question. power is similar, but the si has the 6spd and lsd with a really short tranny. plus it revs to 8200. lude has a bit more tq though. |

Negative. I beat a few last summer. We were even in every gear until 3rd. I pulled 1.5 car lengths, and when i got in 4 i pulled about 3 and then it was over. But who knows, i credit myself for being an excellent driver so maybe others won't have the same results. I'll have to have a go against it as well  |

| ya we will have a few runs. im sure street legals will start soon. i need to break it in still once i get it. when i took the demo out yesterday it felt faster then a lude. time will tell i guess lol. im pretty excited to have a car that works :P |
| walkur1 |
| Well I've got LSD too, but only 5 speed... :(. Looking forward to the runs. How long until it's "broken-in"? |

 but when was the last time you drove your lude? |
| 2ndgenlude |
| lol drove ryans a few months ago, and drove devins 5th gen a few months ago. plus im in ryans all the time. power just seems smoother then the lude. probably due to age. im impressed with the new k series, i must admit. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| and im approved. cars mine. :) |

| Congrats! K20 KTW!! |

| haha tyler i want a run with ya too see how that tiny engine does to my 6L's hahaha and if you beat me that dont matter i just get the bike which weights only 320lbs and has like 80hp and 70lbs of tq |
| mike3 |
| Im pretty sure the Si would take the truck. As for your bike..... that was just a stupid comment haha. |

hey mike what is the si do in the 1/4 mile cuz they say my truck can be a toyota supra turbo so and of course the bike comment is stupid why do we all have fast cars when bikes are so much faster haha |
| mike3 |
| If I get my project car running by summer I'll race you on your bike haha.... I can't remember what an Si runs in the 1/4. |
| redwall177 |
| haha you an your car mike how much has that thing costed you like come on i have only maybe put like 5000 into my bike and it is only a 91 cbr600 that is 17 years older then a new one what if i had a brand new one haha |
| mike3 |
| Im not talking about the prelude haha. At least Im not embarassed to drive my car.... haha just kidding. Just talk to me on msn or something. This thread is about his new Si |
| 2ndgenlude |
| si's run high 14's down south, probably a 15 flat up here just due to the lsd and short gears. we are pretty high elavation. i ran a 15.7 in the lude at 86mph with my non-lsd tranny and shitty launches. im still going to say a si will pull on a srv, as for your truck matt it would be a good run. |

| i was going to say you should have checked out those new altima 2 doors. Those are sexy. if i was going to buy a DD in that price range i would have bought the 2 door altima. Way more hp than the si. |
| 2ndgenlude |
the 2.5s altima coupe base with taxes in is 29k with the 175hp motor, and they are 3055lbs. si is 197hp and 2780 lbs.
altima has quite a bit more tq though. i do think the si will have more fun factor though lol. altima looks huge. |

They look the same size. plus you can't compare a base model altima to a civic that is not a base model. What do the base civics have? 150hp? |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i just compared base cause the price is pretty much the same with the si. the top of the line altima is 33k+taxes. with no options lol. |

not too bad  |
| 2ndgenlude |
| ya it was a awesome deal. supposely civics arn't marked up much to start with. plus i got a really good deal on the aero kit. all im going to do to it is rims, tint, intake, catback, and hid's. i want to keep it mostly stock for a DD. |
| Prudz_lude |
| screw the exhaust. having no exhaust on a dd is so nice. It is why i am keeping my prelude stock exhaust. the sound is so nice and you only hear the engine ;) |
| 2ndgenlude |
true. just the skunk 2 60mm sounds so nice on the new si's lol.
stock does have a nice exhaust note though. i will probably leave it. no hassle from cops either that way. |
| mike3 |
| So when do you pick it up? |
| 2ndgenlude |
| they said early next week. they will probably phone me monday and set up a time. |
| Prudz_lude |
| congrats tyler  |
| Prudz_lude |
| now swap out that k motor and plop it in your civic. :D |
| walkur1 |
| Haha and while you're at it, might as well throw the turbo H22 in the Si... |
| 2ndgenlude |
lol, no engine swapping here guys. thanks for the comments. maybe we can set up a friday meet at the air museum and head down to UC after.
as for the car i still need to get used to the clutch. little bit of jerky shifting for awhile lol. the rev hang screws me up. does your csx do it too mike? i will grab some better pictures of it tomorrow. these are just off my phone when i just got it home. |
| NightmareMX6 |
Haha you have a civic now:lol:
I get first ride |
| walkur1 |
| If we have a meet, I'll bring my Canon Rebel XT and take some good pics for whoever... unless you have something better. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i have a canon something like 6mp lol. yours is probably a lot better. |
| mike3 |
| My CSX took a little while to get used to as well. My dad has a new Si for a company car, and it felt a lot different when I drove his. When I shifted into 2nd, I dropped out of Vtec for a quick second, but mine doesn't do that. The civic seemed to bogg a bit..... Just like the TSX which is why I didn't get it. Who knows.... maybe it just needs to get broken in. Anyways, You'll get used to it. I can't get enough of the K20! haha |
| 2ndgenlude |
| ya, the k20 is fun to drive i have to admit. i don't drop out of vtec (only had it up there a few times) but the rev hang just makes shifts a little jerky. i wish they still used a throttle cable lol. o well. give it a week and i will get used to it. |
| mike3 |
| Yeah, drive by wire is gay. I don't see any point in having it.... Stupid technology haha |
| redwall177 |
| oh you honda guys i only find there bikes good now haha let swap a k20 engine into my bike that would be sweet |
| Prudz_lude |
| looks great tyler! |
