Car was running solid then a couple of days ago it wouldn't start just turn over put the battery charger on boost setting and after some convincing started up. pulled the negative battery cable off and it died while running ive been told its the alternator because of the fact it died when i pulled the - but why was it hard to start with full power from boost? fuel pump? on the drive home she would turn off if i didn't give it gas...

If it was turning over or cranking, then the battery's fine. There's enough juice to get the starter going. If it's not starting up after it cranks it's either the cars getting too much gas from the leaky injectors, or your spark plugs are dirty making it hard to start, run and idle properly. They should be changed on a regular basis anyways.

Check the charge on the battery to make sure the alternator is working. It shouldn't read anything lower than 13.2 .

I'm not sure why you would pull the negative cable off the terminal. It doesn't prove anything.

The cause of the lack of idle could be something like a vac leak, clogged air filter shitty plugs.

Download some work books off the internet for the rx7, it helps a lot. Do a tune up and come back.

K so i changed the plugs and fuel filter recharged my air filter and did an oil change she is still hard to start and when idleing will sometimes turn off fuel pump?

now
if there is a vacuum leak in the intake it can cause a
reduction of air flow through the air flow meter
and if the flap in the air flow meter closes it will turn off the
fuel pump.
there is a yellow test plug next to the pass side shock tower
under the hood that you can jumper to make the fuel pump
run all the time, then get it to idle and if it keeps running
at idle then you know its the switch in the air flow meter that
is causing the pump to stop.

I'm sure your alt is fine, it was new when you got the car.

Is it still burning oil badly like you mentioned it was before?

As for the fuel pump, double check that the electrical connections for that fuel pump cut off switch are solid. Other than that, what Matt (now) said.

Off Topic:

I definately owe you guys supper at least (Kevin, Kevin, Rahul and Ryan).

i think the fuel cut switch is my problem i looked at it today and is pretty loose i will repair that and as for oil buring its gotten better
