I went to Lube-X SEC today to get the first oil change on my EVO. I pull in pop the hood.
Im sitting waiting for the work to start and the technician comes over and says its a $30 skid plate removal fee. I said "pardon? $30? its 9 bolts!"
Technician: The Boss says we have to charge a skid plate removal fee
Me: You want to charge me $30 to remove 9 bolts? I know exactly where the oil filter and drain plug. Its a simple access hatch, you do not have to remove the entire skid plate.
Technician: Well the boss said its $30
Me: Is your boss here? Id like to speak with him.
Enters Fat Lard Ass...
FLA: Unfortunately I have to charge you $30 to remove the skid plate because it takes atleast half an hour
Me: Ive been under my own car, and I have taken off the skid plate already. Its 9 bolts, all 10mm or 8mm.
FLA: Well there are issues in the US with the EVO X and skid plate removal.
Me: Oh? What kind of issues? Im a member of EvoM.net and I havent heard of any issues about skid plates.
FLA: Oh.... Its a liability issue. Like if we miss a bolt and something happens to your car.
Me: Isnt that why your shop has liability insurance?
FLA: Its $30 to remove the skid plate.
Me: So youre telling me, its $30 to take 2 minutes to remove these bolts?
FLA: yeah
Me: So I can go home and remove it myself, and save $30. Or I could never do business at this location again? Open the fucking door, close my fucking hood. |

sucks to hear man, its hard to get good service sometimes.
good time to roll up the sleeves and do it yourself, if you have a place to work on it. |

why not just go to the dealership for the filter? at worst, BMW charged like $12 for a filter on the invoice for the oil changes, so mitsubishi cant be that bad, if not, any worse. |

For that price I would have expected them to remove each bolt by hand with white gloves.
If you did agree to it I bet they would have stripped the heads off half of them when using the air gun. |

I went to a Lube X in Terwillegar, they were more then happy to work on my car. They even allowed me to go down underneath and watch.
Great service. |

LUbe x southside by the Bubbles on 51ave.
Went in for a simple oil change and fluid check and some dumbass kid removed the bolt that holds the shifter fork in position instead of the fill plug to check the fluid level.
They paid for the tranny to be dissassembled and put back together.
I do all my own oil changes now! |

| lol there are zero places which I would trust to change my oil. Every lube tech either torques the hell out of the drain plug or doesn't tighten it enough and it drips/falls out, fail to put oil on the seal so it doesn't fuse to the block or grossly under/over fills it. I have been a lube tech, I know what its like... don't trust them. Even the guys who do have a bit of pride in what they do get a little bit bitter after doing 15 wet minivans over an 10hr shift. Please just do your own oil, mitsubishi oil filters are cheap (like $10/piece) and come with a handy greased oil seal so you don't have to dip your finger in the oil. |

I used the Mitsu Oil filter.
My next oil change will be done at Mitsu for the 8000km service check up. |

It's issues like this why I will never let a drive thru oil change place touch any of my vehicles. If I can't do it myself it goes to a Dealership.
And I cannot believe you would take your car to them int he first place. IMO that is just wrong. |

You're first oil change is free at northside and westside mitsubishi (I assume southside would also have this, not entirely sure). Its the "Internal first service" we add a can on bg moa additive while adding mobile synthetic oil. We also go over your vehicle looking for abnormal wear in your tires, break. We check your fluids and any leaks. |

| To be honest, they probably just didn't want to service your car. Most of these places work on commission, and since it's a brand new vehicle, there's nothing to make money off of, so they charge a ridiculous fee just to get you out of there. Or they'll say they don't have the filter, say it'll be a 45 minute wait when in reality it'll only be 5 minutes. These lube places are crooked. |

I've also had quite a few of my vehicles serviced there and haven't had any issues.
Good people, and I'll continue to go back when I don't have the time to do it my self. |
