RAM and Ram slot testing - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hijacker
is there a program out there on www that can used to test RAM sticks and ram slots?

i manually switched my sticks around, came to find out one stick isn't working right, when i was installing a game i would always get an error, so i tried one stick at a time until it i was able to install.

but when i start my pc with the 2 sticks there no problem. my guess is one of em is weaker or crap.

i can't tell if they are the same speed, cause one has nothing on it other then Kintell. BTW WTF is Kintell RAM???

devin_mm
Have you tried Memtest86?

With known good ram?

i know one stick has problems, not sure about the slots

Well what I would do is get known good ram then run the tests on all slots and see if you get any errors. If it comes up clean then you know your ram is dead.

one of my sticks works good wich is kingston ram, the bad one i don't know Kintell ram or something, iam running 2 gig dual channel when i boot everything is normal with no errors and detects the 2gig.

but for some reason both sticks when used by them self only work in 2 of the 4 slots

i was thinking maybe getting a pair of these.

if ever one of my slots are shit, what is ME return policies?

the last time my ram wouldn't work was cuz they were diff....only by speed too. I have Kingston 1GB 800mhz x2, and 1GB 667MHz...and it effed up. Even slowing down the other 2 didn't work, my friend just said it's cuz their diffrent.

Best way to avoid ram issues is to use the same ones.

I personally couldn't see myself using a system like that for 2-3 more years. But I guess I'm a bit of a hardware whore.

Last year I practically gave away an FX60, A8R32MVP Deluxe, 4GB OCZ PC4000, dual X1900's, OCZ GXS850 PSU, and 320GB because it was just too damn slow...
