Your opinion on new/front load washers? - Click HERE for Original Thread

(Sorry, I know it doesn't belong in this forum but I thought I would get the more serious replies here)

I'm in need of a new washing machine; ever since I bought my place I've just been using what other people have left over and I'm tired of what I feel is poor quality.

When I read through reviews on the web all I seem to read are horror stories about everyone.

What kind of washer do you have, and how do you find it cleans the clothes? Have you had any issues? Would you buy it again?

I'm not set on a front load if I can find a top load that performs well, and since I don't have a family the water / power savings really isn't a big deal for the amount I do.

I still own the top loaders but I've used my parents on many occasions. I like the front load better. They seem more ergonomic and they haven't had any issues in the past 3 years that I know of.

Bought a normal washer and dryer for 1000.00 brand new from the brick.

After 2 years, my washer sounds like a boxer engine, and the dryer dry's clothes about as fast as Fadi's car does the quarter mile.

my fam uses the front-loaders and their great. really easy to use and bout 2 or so hours everythings done..

The big bonus with front loaders is being able to wash comforters and other larger items because the drum will actually move the item around. With top-loaders it's pretty much impossible to wash a queen-size comforter.

I may buy new units in the next year here and I'll definitely be going front-loading.

We have new front loaders and so far they've been great. I can't put any verifiable proof on the power and water efficiency claims yet though. That'd be a bit tricky as we have all new appliances, not just washer & dryer, in a new house (which of course has a new furnace & water heater too), and its a much larger house on top of that. Too many variables have changed which would make trying to disect my utility bills quite a task.

Anyway, I echo Chrome's comment on the capacity advantage. Definitely a big plus. And so far I've found you don't need to use much detergent to get a good "clean".

We bought a Kenmore (Sears) matching pair, which were at the top of their class in Consumer Reports at the time we were shopping.

We have the Kenmore Set also and its great, the washer save's you alot water and some power, it suppose to be better for your clothes to keep the lasting longer. So far I found this to be true....

I have a Front Load Washer and love it. You can do larger loads it seems, and it seems like your clothes actually last a little longer too. I think the front load is more gentle on the clothes because they don't get wrapped around the middle section as it spins back and forth.

After this one I'll only go front load again. It's alot more handy too switching to the dryer.

We have these as well and they are pretty nice, they seem to be quite noisy (they rattle and shake a fair bit) but it might be the fact that they are sitting on a stone floor which may be slightly uneven. If you splurge on the accessory mats that they offer you it seems to solve the problem. we went and picked them up after we had been running the machines for a few weeks.

You better get it leveled (adjust the feet) or you will kill the bearings. and the drum. Ours sounded like a jet engine and we were told to balance it..and now its quite.

You’re supposed to clean your clothes???? :dunno:

I have 10 year old washer and dryer. They are the normal ones. I do not recall the name, but I can find that out tonight.

I have a few features on there but only really use 4 settings.

1) Hot water
2) Cold Water
3) Max Load
4) Min Load

They suit my needs. The dryer is on the fritz, it makes some sort of buzzing noise every now and then.

I am going to purchase front load on my next “Team” for the fact they are more energy efficient and use less water. Don’t get me wrong, I love my water and power, but if I can pay the man less and use the same amount I will do it.

Talk to marcenator, he just purchased some sort of front load space aged comes with a transporter washer and drier team.

Mine came with the house and were only a few years old. I would purchase again, but I like techmology.…even if I do not use it. That is why I will go with front load.

I have a front load washer and dryer. They are made by Kenmore I believe... They were $1300 for both from Leons about a year and a half ago. They are stackable as well (that is how I have them configured), or you can buy the optional pedestals and have them sit about 12" off the ground.

I have no issues so far, they clean an amazing amount of clothing per load. So far very happy. I don't use alot of the settings (like Mike, I use Max Load, warm/cold cycle), but they are well optioned for lower end models.

Thanks for the opinions guys, it looks like I'll definitely move into the 21st century and get a pair of frontloads.
