so this is a quote from a guy that works at the nissan dealer in the USA... whats your opinion on this??? im a little iffy about this!
"""I currently work at a Nissan dealership (apprentice) and we just got wind from Nissan Canada that their sending use 3 GTR's. We found this out last week in the morning, and managed to sell 2 by the afternoon and they havent even reached the dealership.
Some interesting things we were told were that the ECU is what nissan calls untuneable and good luck changing the stock turbochargers as they are integrated into the exhaust manifold. Also changing the stock wheels with aftermarkets will void the warrenty. If one plans on taking the car to the track Nissan will find out with the built in GPS and if it not a trakc the approve of they will put a rev limit on the car. It's insane how their going on with this car.
We all have to go for training for this car, (Service advisors, Service managers, Technicians, Apprentices, Salespeople and Salesmanager). Also when you go to buy one you can only deal with the Sales manager and for service only the service manager and the technician working on the cars.
We also found out they plan on releasing a Spec V version of the car with over 550hp.
Just some interestin stuff i was told from nissan canada that for those who are interested would want to know""" |

And the fourth was a Honda driver. No, I don't have any more point to make there than you did.
I've been reading that Nissan will not be putting out any kind of 'spec' version of this car, and it is supposed to be tuned pretty much identically the world over.
You should know not to listen to ANYTHING said by a person working at a dealership. Don't ask a dealer anything about a car if you don't want hearsay and on the spot bull-shit. Some amazingly dumb shit comes out of their mouths when put on the spot. They seem to think any answer is better than 'I'm not sure on that one, let me get back to you'. |

I think there is some confusion here and threads like this do not help. The ecu will be cracked. Technosquare usually takes a few months but they do it. Reflashes are now available for the 07 HR ecu's. HKS will most likely have the V-pro stand alone available soon as well. Many guys are already hardwiring their own units into their cars with no problems in Japan. I believe Top Secret already has their GT-R fully completed. The turbo's are no problem either. Change out the manifolds and your a ready to rock. Just like with the Greddy TT kits for the 350Z/G35's. The wheel changing is bullshit. Lot's of guys are already running 20-22" rims in the US...no issues with warranty. The GPS issue is completely wrong as well. In Japan the GPS has track locations in the unit. If you are on one it actually opens up the programming on the car and removes the perfromance limiters. They know owners want to track use the cars...it's not seen as a negative thing by Nissan. |

if there were going to be a 'Spec' version it would be a V spec not a spec V... unless its the new GT-r Sentra... |

And Nissan has already announced the for the North American market, there will be no GPS limiter on the ECU...so the car will be at full performance regardless of where you are. |

I remember when the GTR was in the pre production stages and nissan said they purposely detuned the ecu so that once the tuner scene got a hold of the gtr's, they could really wake them up. They did this because that's another thing the GTR's are known for is they ability to be tuned and nissan didn't want to take that away either. |

| Whatever the case may be, aftermarket companies will find a way to crack the ECU and add more performance to the vehicle. I can't wait to see all the FnF versions that will be featured in the magazines :D  |

I dunno... If I had ~$85-90k to spend on a car like a baller would, I'd have a tough time deciding between the GTR, the new M3, or even saving up a bit more for a 911 Carrera.
The GTR looks like a turd too. d'oh. |

The only problem with the GTR is you have to have it serviced by the same retards at dealerships that spew this complete bullshit.
Dealership folks have zero fucking clue what their talking about.
When your buying a 100K car you expect 100K techs/mechanics to be working on it. Which you won't get. Half the Nissan Techs (like any dealership) can barely work on 1.8L base Sentras without fucking shit up. You wan't to trust them with your GTR?
That's the only problem I see with the car. |

GPS systems have plugs that go to an anttena..unplug or plull the fuse or sue tinfoil or what ever but I don't knwo if Nissan can be that anal it jsut sounds like BS tough talk passed down from manager to manager.
People are going to change the rims I think oversized SUPERSIZED spiners should void a persons life warrenty but it will be done and so will body kits and oh ya there is enough people that will chop the crap outta these cars that if you wait 3 year's you will be ables to buy parts for it in a huskey gas station, now what I want to see is China's $15,000 of that car...do you think they will do it? |

| there are already "tuned" versions of the GTR so it would be pretty retarded of anyone to believe a single word of the entire first post. |

| DomesticDrifter |
| The GPS "Track" feature will only limit the top speed of cars in Japan. The computer does not know the location of track outside of Japan. As a result cars headed the the UK and North America will not have this feature programed into them so you can go ahead and bag the shit out of the car as much as you want. |
