ziebart.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - Click HERE for Original Thread

gen3novahonk
Im selling my 03 f150 and i took it to ziebart monday to have the interior detailed and the engine done too. Well, they did a great job on the interior, the engine looks pretty good (it was REALLY dusty/dirty) but when i started up the engine it sputtered liek it had a bad plug or something. They told me that sometimes the odd vehicle will get some moisture in a plug boot or coil pack or something and may need some time to dry out and then things will work ok again. Well , its been 3 days now and it still runs like shit. Anyone else ever have this happen to them? I told the guy at the counter that if its not fine by monday then im taking it to a shop and they can check it out and fix it and i will bring the bill back to ziebart. Well, the guy at ziebart really didnt think it was their responsibility for what has happened.

Am i out to lunch thinking that if they oversoaked the engine and shorted out a coil pack or something, that they shoudl have to pay for the repairs?? I just had a recrnt tune up too, so the plugs should be in great shape.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks

sorry to hear that man, it sucks that it is nearly impossible to trust anybody in this city with respect to getting good service.

my mantra- if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself!!

i say talk to the mgr or owner and let them know they have messed up, you may get some help if you take it to the top.

Yep Coil pack for sure, gotta watch em when spraying down engine on that year F150's, happened a few times to Lightning owners.

I'd say they should at least fix the problem that they caused

The route of the problem needs to be identified.

In this case I would say piss poor ford engineering of the coil packs and or electrical connections.

I dont think zeibart should have to pay for it, they didnt do it out of negligence and there would have been no other way to clean that engine than with a pressure washer.

My advice is that going in there and telling them that you dont feel as though they have done anything wrong, but it has been a costly repair. Tell them they did a great job on the detail, and in the future maybe those added costs to you could be reflected on future work you provide to them?

Although I am not a ziebart fan.

Which Ziebart was this? Theres a few in the city.

how can you blame ford? That is so the shit head that probably used a high pressure washer. Even though it should be able to take it doesn't mean you go all Banadas with one. They should fix it its the cost of business.

You argue like a woman.

So you are basically saying ford doesnt need to design weatheproof coil packs then?

As a former detailer I can tell you that this happens quite a bit if the people are not careful. But the 4.6 Fords have a weak spot that if even a tiny bit of water seeps down you have a problem. If I remember correctly it will be around $500 to fix.

I guess my main beef is that , if they cant do an engine clean without damaging the motor, then i wouldnt as for it to be done. Its the same thins as going in to have your car washed and having it come out with scratches all over it because someone there used a sponge with rocks embedded in it to wash your car......... it was fine when i toook it in to have the work done, and IMMEDIATELY when i picked it up, there was a problem. In my eyes, they are at fault and should pick up the tab to fix it properly.

I COULD understand it being MY problem if it were a faulty plug wire that was cracked and now the water penetration is causing a short because it was a problem with the engine when i came there that might have shorted out at anytime, but i have new wires, plugs and a recent tune & injector clean.

BTW, it was the west end ziebart. I cant really complain about the guy at the desk who was helping me intiially, but when i went back to see the OTHER guy working at the desk (who just happened to be there when i came back friday) and i asked him about the 'who pays for repairs' issue, he was flat outright denying any responsibility.

if they don't fix it they should give all your money back, I thought the exact same thing with the washing the car with rocks on the sponge .
