Hey, I'm looking to buy a new Honda Fit real soon and I've never bought a car from a dealership before.
Does anybody have any tips on what I should be looking out for when dealing with the salesman? Any things to avoid or look out for?
Also, any recommendations on which dealership/personnel to deal with?
Thanks for the help |

See if you can get ahold of the dealership's cost on the car, as a haggling tool.
I also play 2 or 3 dealerships against eachother. They dont like it, and claim they wont do it... But in the end they all do to get the sale.
Usually once I get close to the price I want, I tell them that if they knock the price down X amount more I wont bother calling the other dealerships.
After you have settled on a price thats good for you, start getting them to throw in the options. Get the windows tinted, and 1-2yrs free oil changes, alarm/starter, better warranty etc.... stuff they can do at the dealership.
If the salesman isnt pissed off, you didnt get a good deal IMO. I had the manager at Rally Subaru almost kick me out of the dealership. lol. But ended up saving close to 5grand, and getting a $2500.00 in store credit to buy parts..
Stay friendly though, if your a dick head they wont budge. |

| thanks for the advice man. I was talking to a friend of mine who works for Honda (not a salesman) and he was saying there isn't much markup on Fits, but I'll definately be checking out all 3 Honda's in Edmonton and see what I can do to get the loweet price |

I ended up buying my Honda from Carter Honda in Vancouver.
The price was close to 2000$ cheaper then anything I could get in the Edmonton area.
I bought it for $300 above dealer cost and didnt have to pay freight, pdi, or anything like that.
Just the dealer cost+300$+5%GST. |
