Air Ride equip. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Does anybody Know of any good shops in edmonton that deal with Air Ride supplies? I've been doing a lot of homework on Air Ride, and I have a good Idea of what I need, now I just need to find a Local shop, or even a Local wholesaler that I can get these parts from.

I still have a few things I need to know about this stuff... Is there anyone on this board that knows Air Ride systems very well?

Thanks!

limecorrado
i have heard from a guy that did his mazda pick up that fort garry industries on 118Ave has lots of air ride supplies.

ManHunter
You should ask the Dropsicles guys.

theres only a info@dropsicles.com email addy on the site, but I send them some mail anyway.

thanks for the info guys. Its amazing what you can learn in 3 hours on the internet :) I went from knowing nothing, to knowing something

ouch, I was able to locate a kit from www.superbeegt.com but they want $3500 for it. doh! Guess I'll be putting this all together with seperate pieces.

Do the dropsicles guys have a web forum? I bet they got lots of used tanks, compressors and possibly bags theyd want to sell :)

If you have any specific questions or anything, you can always ask me.
Its cheaper to peice together a system than to order a "kit".

I order all my stuff from differnt shops throughout the U.S its cheaper than any shop around, and takes only 4-5 business days as opposed to months from local shops. (Been there done that).

But if you prefer to buy locally, hit up the offroad shops in edmonton, most offroad companies can get you anything you need, but for a price.

Thanks man, I found everything I need to piece a kit together on the internet, only took me all day today B) (now I just need the cash)

I do have some questions for you though... Which is the best route to go...
-8- 2way valves
or
-4- 3way valves?

I want to do F/B/S/S for sure, so just 2 valves is no good. I found the strutbags I need for the front, but they are $799 american for the two  but everything seems doable with very little problems, now its just a matter of when I can get the cash flow to start buying this stuff. BTW, www.teampneumatik.com has the best stuff.

Lll_J
Id go with 8 2 way valves. Ive only seen 3way valves from AIM industries, and in the sportruck community that company has earned itself a bad reputation. My freind has 8 1/2" valves on his mazda, hes only running 150psi, and we had to slow it down, it was just too fast.

Myself I only have F/B paddles, which is very slow, I'll upgrade one day but its not my priority right now.

Id like to see what parts your getting. 3/8" or 1/2" valves? Im assuming an electric compressor, what have you picked? How many gallons of supply?

I want to do 8 2way Valves, 3/8", 450 pump, 6gal tank.... But im not sure if I'll be able to afford it all

Im still planning it all. The front strutbags are supposed to bolt up. I was checkin out my rear suspension, and that'll require some welding

Mekanik22
The two guys at my work did their own, and they did a good job. They both own slammed out trucks.

Focus Guy
There is very few shops or local crews that run air systems around here that do clean work, If you want perfection go to Waddsons Rod Shop. But if you go there grab your ankles on the way in!

Air Ride makes Easystreet kits that are pretty easy to install look into these. Air Ride products can be bought localyu from lots of places.

With a welder and a torch you can build anything!

Right on, thanks Midas Guy. I'll probably be doing the install at my work, my boss wants to bag his chopped 85 chev.

lilJ, do they make bags with the opening for the fitting on the side, insted of up on top? all the ones I've seen have it on the top, and I have no way of mounting it on the top or bottom

'02SiR
you can just get bags and hook them all up to one air line and u can raise it of lower it by puttin air in at the tire machine

*edit, its a hell of a lot cheaper and less weight and no pump or tank

You mean on strut bags right? Cause there is definetly no way to have side ports on a bellow or sleeve bag. You can only have ports on the bottom or the top, if im understanding you correctly. Why wont that work? A couple 90 degree elbows should work. Although the more elbows the slower you get.

Viair 450c is a good comp. 100% duty cycle and it doesnt draw too many amps. I run a chrome one for a backup to my belt driven. Its usaually best to use one 450 for 5-7 gallons of air. If you add more tanks, add another comp. That setup sounds good, 3/8" are plenty fast.

What kind of car is this goin on? Are you gettin Air Ride Tech strut bags or Airlift, or shAIM?

And yeah Waddsons, OVERPRICED! Me and my buddy do all our own work.

lil J, I can only find strutbags for my car on AIM...nobody else has em. Also Im tracking down a set of brackets and bags for the rear end. My car has a trailing arm rear suspension, Its hard to explain why a regular bag wouldnt work back there, but im sure with the bracket and a 90 degree elbow, it will work fine.

I changed my plans about my setup, For starters im just going to do FB, and i might start off with a 350 pump and a 3 or 6 gal tank. I can always upgrade later on. I just want to get this thing on air.

The car is a 91 pontiac sunbird. Most people are like "why bother baggin a sunbird"..... thats Why im going to do it :) I've never seen a car like mine on air, and thats my motivation... just so its something different

Lll_J
Yeah if you had a focus, civic, or a pt cruiser, theres all kinds of parts haha.

Good luck with it.

Lll_J
You are correct, I sure didnt back then, and now I do.

And besides the actual bag placement, Ive had to upgrade all my air management myself 6 months later.

Then proceeded to bag my freinds mazda.

So yes I do all my own work now.

Not sure about the mono leaf  comment. Im sorry im not as rich as you apparently are.

yeah hopefully I get the winter car that im planning right now, so the body will be done by next summer for sure (on the sunbird) and depending on cash flow, I want to have the air ride in by then. The crappy part is, i just got new shocks/struts and intrax springs installed on the sunbird.. all a waste now :(
Right now the sunbird sits pretty low, but i wana get llooowwwwwerrrr

Stay away from Wadson's when it comes to bags, they did my truck. I've had to redo most of it. The only thing left that they did that I didn't have to do some work on is the front shock mounts. Now that I know what's what with these things I'm certinaly kicking my self in the ass for taking it to some one to have it done....but like others have said, live and learn.

bigpappa
wadsons did my car and it turned out perfect?
