Ok guys, who is up for a dyno day? i pm'd martin and he wants 90 dollars for a base run with wideband. Not a bad price. I started one of these threads in sufi and it did not get that far. Who is down for this? set a date/time? If no one else is interested i will go it alone. I just really want a base run to see what my car is putting down stock so i have a reference for when i start modding.

I do not believe so. Could be wrong. That isn't even a club price though. They normally give discounts if you bring enough people because it is just a constant flow of cash for the day.
Tyler, give martin a call and see if you can get some sort of club deal. Try to make it on a friday during the afternoon/evening. That would be the best. |

90 is expensive. i remember when i dynoed my old prelude at pe tuning it was 60 for 3 runs. martin still has my engine stand and owes me RC injectors so i might be able to get better pricing. i might just get the lude retuned the same day, maybe at the end. get my hondata going. i guess i can go in tomorrow and throw the idea at him. how many interested people though?
as for the wideband you do not need one. he clamps a wideband sensor in your exhaust to get the afr readout from the dynojet software. |

| lol, it takes about 1-2 hours to get it in. You could make it if you made your appointment and were the first one to get dyno'd. Odds are we would be there for 3-4 hours. Probably more depending on how many there are. |

| well i went in and talked to martin. he said for around 6 cars he would do $70 per person. cheaper the more cars we get. also it would have to be on a weekend. his dyno is booked solid, but he said probably within 2 to 3 weeks he could fit us in on a sat/sun. i will probably end up tuning my prelude at the end, so if anyone wants to stick around and watch feel free. whats a good day for everyone? |

$70...that is still pretty damn high for bringing 6 cars to his shop. :confused: I would say if we get 6 it should be at least $50-$60 dollars max.
Know what we should do! i made a thread like this on sufi a month or so ago. There are about 7-8 people who plan on going. We should combine both clubs so we have like 15 people. Should only cost us each like $30. |

i doubt he will go under 60 despite how many people we have. remember, since he is booked up he said he would come in on a weekend and do it for us during his own time. but it wouldn't hurt to get some more people and haggle with him a bit lol. we could probably get $60 a person if we have around 10 people. $60 isn't bad for 3 runs with wideband. then you get the graph emailed to you. but we will need to start a confirmed list of people, since the sooner we let martin know when we want the dyno, the sooer he can get us in.

We're doing baseline runs, so it's gonna be exactly what you're looking for. Stock is perfectly fine, so no worries there. Most of the people there will have lightly, if at all, modified cars.
And a wideband is an aftermarket sensor which detects your exact fuel/air ratio. Cars come with a narrowband (I'm assuming that's what it's called) from the factory, and it can only tell if the ratio is lean, or rich. So with a wideband, you can actually tell how much more or less fuel you need to get your ratio at its proper level. The sensor used at the shop simply clips on to your exhaust. |

| if you take up time on the dyno for installs he might charge you for extra time. most of the time hes pretty cool about stuff like that, like a intake is a 10 minute install. header would be tricky though. im actually excited for this. i wonder what its like to break traction at 100km/h lol. as long as it doesn't blow up :P need to get my hondata find my 3 bar map sensor. someone should bring a mini bbq if its nice and we could cook burgers or something :) |

well martin kinda pissed me off but the dyno day will still go on if everyone wants it to. he told me he doesn't have time to fix my car (minor exhaust connection and a oil line) before the dyno day ( gave him 3 weeks notice) so my car will not see the dyno, and i doubt it will see AFI's shop again. This is added to the fact he owes me $300 injectors, he still has my engine stand, and while my car was in his shop he made a nasty dent in my quarter panel with paint transfer that i looked the other way on. plus i gave him about $5000 last year for work performed, and he can't get me in for a day worth of work with 3 weeks notice? he had the nerve to say my car will "have to wait". actually after writing this post im even more pissed off at him. I guess this is the way he does business.
either way i won't be dynoing any car. |

Tyler, you realize he has been saying this same shit for the last year right? What makes you think his word is worth anything now? He obviously stumbled across this thread and has seen that he could have a lawsuit on his hands. Funnier part about it is he is going to lose if it comes to that since you have so many witnesses and you documented your build. I would just go to small claims court and be done with it. You are better off going to lightspeed anyway for the tune. At least then you know it will be a good tune.
He never mentioned paying to fix that quarter panel either....that is a $1000+ bill right there. Who cares if he has 5 cars going out this week either! YOUR CAR HAS BEEN THERE FOR A YEAR!!!! Yours should have been out of his shop months ago. |

Why are we waiting on Martin? Keep calling lightspeed until you get an answer. Like we discussed, we should try and get some sort of account going with them so we can refer all members there and get a discount since we will be sending so many cars there. I am sorry that your experience has been so bad. It is exactly the delays in getting your car done the first time that are making it so I can't just fit it in on short notice.
We are really making an effort around here to have jobs in and out in a timly fashion, and the main advisary to this task is doing out of order work. We no longer take vehicles in to sit around for months on end getting partial work along the way. I was being up front and honest with you that I would not be able to have your car done this week. My old ways of business would have been to give you false hope to make you happy, and then not have it done in time.
My plan was to make sure I had the appropriate amount of time to give your car my full attention and have the thing in and out in a day or two.
That car was certianly never tuned at part throttle properly, and it was evedent of that when it was on the dyno even. The main goal was to get it out and not spend much time on the part throttle since we were just going to do the injectors and s200 system anyways.
It has been a long journy trying to bring my shop upto a proffessional level, and it is truly a ton better than when you had your car in. I would be happy to be the one to finish your car up right, and at least lessen the sour taste you currently have.
As for the dent in your car, that is something that I never intended for you to pay for. I kinda invisioned that when the car was all sorted out and ready for paint I would take care of our part of the damage on the paint job bill. If you are not planning on painting the car then I will arrange to have the damage caused while your car was here to be fixed. There is absolutely no reason that your car should be returned with a dent in it for you to fix out of your own pocket.
As for cancelling the dyno... I really don't mind at all. I probably shouldnt have booked it in on such short notice anyways, it was done more as a favor than a business venture.
Let me know if you are willing to give me a shot fixing everything up for you and I will book the car in for a solid day to get it in and out for you.

but shops will and do take advantage of those people in the automotive industry. Hell, i have such a hard time finding a shop that won't lie to my face about car issues simply because i don't look like i have ever touched a wrench in my life.
I can't even count how many times i have had to tell the managers that they are lying to me, are ripping me off, and then force them to try and prove me wrong. You should have witnessed my husky incident for my brakes. Fuck, that was such a joke. I ended up paying less than what they told me my bill was because they did unneeded work without my premission, they lied about hours required, and ended up breaking one of my pedals off my pedal as well they stole something out of my car. I can't remember. It was fucking ridiculous.
If Martin fixes everything, including the quarter panel free of expense, then yah you won't need to pursue legal action. However, i see that highly unlikely and i almost gurantee that you won't get that quarter panel fixed through him. |

WOW!!! just stumbled on this thread. Glad I did. Martin has had my car in for a 4 day stage 2 supercharger install. It's now going on just over a month lol.
I keep getting the run around type thing, oh it's just about finished. Or we had to do this and that to it but were getting it all worked out and it'll be fired up soon. Well on friday he called to say they were just lowering it to fire it up and he would call me to come over for the dyno. Well I have heard nothing since.
I keep calling but it only goes to voice mail, and on saturday I was leaving a message and someone actually picked th phone up and hung up on me mid message. Of course today same thing right to voice mail. SO ya id say id like to know what's going on with that shop too. communication on their part sucks ass, and the lies just seem to flow out of their mouths so far. I am getting more then a little pissed to say the least.
