Installing amp/sub - Click HERE for Original Thread

redbaron303
How do I install an amp/sub into my car???

Should I just take the car to a place like a&b sound and get my buddy there to do it for next to nothing, or should I try and mess around with it and do it myself?

get your buddy to do it right....youll end up saving time and frustration...

Get it done right. If you have any problems with the equipment down the road, most companies want to see proof that it was installed correctly before they will warranty equipment.

if your buddy is going to do it for you cheap, its a good idea. You might want to ask him if you can help out to if it is a friend he probably won't mind and you will learn some tricks if you ever want to do an install on a different vehicle. I myself do all of my own stereo installs

You know someone at A&B that can do it for free??? Would he do under the table stuff there for me I got a bunch of shit I need installed, possibly a DVD player.

Its really not that hard, Does your deck have sub control?

Just pick up an install kit from any audio place like futureshop/a&b etc.

That will get you all the wiring fuses etc.

You just run a remote wire from your deck to the remote on the amp, then the RCA's from the deck (sub output), to the amp. Power from the amp to your battery with a fuse (usually 30 amp). Ground the amp with no longer than a meter length of wire. Then speaker wire from the amp to the subs.

Talk to the guys at an audio place, the install kits have everything you need.

Have your buddy do it cheap. Once the system is installed, it is usually fairly reliable if done right. No need to pay big store prices. Stick it to da man! ;)

I could get you a deal on a wiring kit since I work at a&b.

ah man, DIY! i did mine it was fun, you gotta figure out the slickest way to route your wires, I did mine over all four doors, down under the seats into the trunk, practically invisible, SWEET.

one thing to remember is run your power and speaker wire(Amp & Speakers) on opposite sides of the car, the power can interfere with the signal.

everything else is easy, remote is just power of any sort from the deck, you got your sub rca's and your speaker rca's, hook it up, run the right size power wire, make sure you have a killer ground and you're done. easy and fun

I'm going to give my bud a shout and see if he'll show me how to install it... get the best of both! Have a pro teach me something about car audio...?

The only reason I'm worried about wiring it myself is not my lack of experience, but the rather complicated wiring system in the car now... :S It's crazy, as there are stock amps, alarms, etc running off the same circuts/fuses/etc.. I know when I had my cd player installed, he had to rewire a bunch of stuff to make it work properlly...
