| Is the use of a laser jammer or laser shifter illegal in Alberta? If so, what are the penalties? |

| I'd hazard a guess they're probably illegal... But even still, only the active jammers work, the passive ones don't... And the active ones only work half the time, and are super expensive, do you really need to speed that badly? |

| I actually don't speed that much, in fact I have a clean driver's abstract at the moment. The problem is stiff traffic fines and insurance costs associated with a ticket. As far as I'm concerned if it saved me on the one day my mind wasn't completely focused on the speed limit and I passed a trap I would call it a good investment. |

Just because you have a clean driver's abstract does not make you safe driver. It just means you have not been ticketed and convicted for a demerit violation.
to answer your question, I am not aware of any provincial legislation about RADAR or Laser Jammers, however, I have heard that anything that can transmit wave lengths are federally legislated... I am not aware of what section... so... I guess I have not answered your question... sorry:dunno: |

| I'm fairly(not 100 percent) certain that laser haX0r1nG is ok, but radar jamming is definitely not OK in the law. |

Radar jamming (radiowave frequency) is illegal, as you're in violation of federal communications regulations.
Laser jamming (lightwave frequency) is legal (ie: it's not illegal yet). No legislation currently exists on anybody's books about projecting a light source.
Of course, shining a visible laser at a plane, or other stupid things, is highly illegal.
If you are, however, the type of driver that thinks they require such things, I don't want to be on any road you're on, as you're more of a menace than you think. |

| Hey folks, CALM DOWN! I was wondering, as it was brought up in another thread. I am not looking to buy this equipment, but thought there were those in the community who were curious. Instead of letting people chat away without facts, I thought it was valuable to ask an expert. I will stress this again: I AM NOT RACING ON THE STREET. On weekdays I drive a company vehicle to do my job. I would not jeopardize my life, the lives of others or my job to do something I could easily do on a track. |

This is the way I understand it as well. |

It has been my experiance that the ones who say "CALM DOWN", are the ones who are in need of it more then others.
You are new to this forum, although there is a lot of usefull informtation to be seen and read, it all comes with a hint of jest or sarcasm... don't take it too personally. |
