My fuse that controls the night time tail-lights, license plate light, and all my interior lighting keeps blowing out. At first I replaced it, and it was good. Now everytime I replace it, it blows almost instantly as soon as I start the car. This causes trouble as I can now no longer drive at night. Where can I look for the cause of the short? I've heard that the lead wire heading into an aftermarket HU can oftern cause that fuse to short out, but I havent done anything to it since I've gotten the car.

hey i am a 12 volt installer and have had the same problem in another car. what happened was that the illumintion (orange or orange/white wire) was grounding out onto some switches just below the deck that was installed. it is easily fixable, you just gotta make sure that everything that is behind your head unit is properly capped. also if you have an aftermarket head unit make sure that it is not connected to the car. a lot of the time the illumination wire set up from the aftermarket radio to the factory is different and it will back feed causing fuses to blow or bulbs to burn out. let me know if you need any more help with it

Ya. I figured it out. I pulled out the HU. Whoever installed it, pinned a wire comming from the stock harness, but didn't go anywhere. They just covered it with tape, which came off, so it was shorting out.
