Is there a limit on how many times a person can do this before some kind of penalty comes into play?
Is there any kind of record that stays with you for missing court dates? Any real disadvantages?
Asking for someone lazy i know, thanks. |

You can be arrested and charged depending on what it is for. You can be charged for the first offense.
I filled out a accident statement after my car was damaged, 3 months later I had a couple of cops at my door telling me I had to go to court on XXday and provide a witness testimony. I was told if I didn't go I would get contempt of court (or something alone those lines) so I went, wasted a couple hours, then went to work. Wasn't the end of the world but I'm not going to fill out a report for any accidents I witness anymore unless I really feel I should.
If you (someone you know) are being charged with something.... probably go. Even if you don't receive an official punishment par say, you would piss off the CP and the Judge probably won't like you for wasting his time. |

Warrant for your arrest |

It depends what the court date was for...
In the case of a traffic offence, If you were issued a yellow copy ticket, you would be convicted in absence. If it was a pink copy ticket arrest warrant would likely be issued.
If it was criminal court, arrest warrant would be issued |
